Studyblr Community Challenge: Day 1
Introduce yourself and tell us what you study!
i'm August and i'm in my sophomore year of college studying architecture, so all my language studies are just for fun!
i'm currently working on learning French but i'm hoping to be fluent in French and Spanish by the time i have my masters degree.
in ten years i want to be fluent in French, Spanish, and Farsi!
i'm going to use this blog to motivate me to use my planner, get my work done, and learn my languages, so drop into my asks and introduce yourself because i need studyblr buddies!!

i theorized a lot about the various different ways go3 could end, and what would happen to aziraphale and crowley, and them becoming mortal was my LEAST favorite option for it, so im pretty upset about that.
HOWEVER.
as i think about it and mull it over, i really appreciate that heaven and hell were completely abolished, as i think that was the perfect resolution to the whole conflict, and i realize they had to therefore make az and crowley mortal as a consequence of that.
because of this, i like that, rather than allow aziraphale and crowley to retain their memories of their entire existence and conflict and plop them back down on earth and then force them to recon with their new mortality and die, they were born as mortals and lived whole lives as mortals with no memories of their immortal existence.
is it the ending i wanted for them? absolutely not. i think their history and all their interactions through the milennia were so important to their characters and relationship, and this ending effectively killed off their characters as immortal beings (you do not want to know how i feel about that). however, i know in my heart that through the magic of God and Fate and The Universe that mortal!crowley and mortal!aziraphale got to live lives with similar experiences together. im sure aziraphale loved food and performed bad slight of hand and had an affinity for magic tricks, and i bet you crowley had the bentley and cultivated the greenest plants and fed the ducks by the pond (peas of course). and thats almost as beautiful.
we've all written/read human AUs for them, and this was just like them getting a human AU but in canon. at least thats how im framing in my mind so that i can get through the night.
ranking names for merlin that i have read in fics (based purely on how they sound, not their historical/mythological accuracy)

Merlin Hunithson - i love love LOVE that it takes his mothers name instead of his fathers name, and fics where merlin is a mama's boy and is so devoted to hunith are my lifeline so yeah im biased towards this name
Merlin Wyllt - actually used to not like this one but it's grown on me significantly. its crisp and also gives foresty vibes which feels right
Merlin Emrys - definitely the most common one i've read, but its giving "saying chai tea is just saying tea tea" sorry hot take i know
Merlin Ambrose/Ambrosius - idk why but i hate the word ambrose, maybe its because i played wizard 101, maybe its because i do NOT like the colors that word populates in my brain, but i am a certified Ambrose Hater
absolutely no hate to anyone who chooses to use any of these names in their fics!
