I've noticed that there isn't many cold front fanfics, oneshots, or anything really. And seeing as i can never let anything go, and i also lack the writing talent to write one, could i request a Augustine x Winnie, or a Winnie x reader, whichever one is easier for you or whichever one you want to write? A/N: Sorry for the waitt, got bombarded with responsibilities huhuu
It had been some time since the whole car crash incident, the two survivors of that fiasco kept in contact; their once dry, spread-out texts grew more frequent after they finally reconciled and communicated through that weird limbo-dream thing. The first time Winnie came to stay for the summer, he solo-traveled all the way back to town via bus.
Meanwhile with Augustine, he waited by the bus stop, a paper in his hand with messily written letters that said 'WELCOME HOME'. It was odd, but it was Augustine's silly way of welcoming his friend back after how many days, weeks—months even—away in college. When Winnie's bus finally arrived, Augie waved his paper up with a big grin on his face.
If anyone else knew that Winnie was coming home today, the bus stop would have been more filled, luckily, this return was unannounced, only Augustine knew about this.
"AUGGIE!!!" Winnie ran out of the bus, carrying his pillow and his blanket in one hand, his hair disheveled and headphones on his shoulders. The blonde nearly stumbles as he exits the vehicle, clumsy as he embraces his best friend.
Augustine rolled his eyes and returned the embrace, sighing as he squeezed the other boy tighter in his arms, the paper he was holding up now crumpled on the ground, abandoned.
"Damn, how long was your trip? You look cozy."
"Well... just a few hours, I crossed states after all!"
The brown-haired boy pulled away and held Winnie's shoulders, eye twitching, "And coming here with your parents wasn't a better option?"
"Nope!" Winnie simply smiled, "I wanted to try traveling on a bus, alone..." he paused for dramatic effect, "Like in the movies!"
The brunette scoffed and shook his head, "Of course you did..."
From Winnie's earphones, a song caught Augustine's attention. He furrows his brows.
"Were you listening to... Sleep Tolken?"
"Yeah? One of my new friends introduced me to it and I got reeeaaally int—"
Augustine could only stare in horror. His Winnie? Sweet ol' Winnie? The golden boy Winnie? Listening to Sleep Tolken? Next he's gonna say that he listens to My Chemical Romance.
"Are you okay?" Augustine asks, a worried expression on his face, "You know you can talk to me, right? I'm here for you if you need to talk, Winnie."
The blonde looked confused as he raised a brow, "Uh... yeah? I know that."
Augustine looked confused, his mind trying to figure out if he was really talking to the same person, the loud drums and guitars of Sleep Tolken still playing from Winnie's headphones making him all the more confused.
Winnie snickered, hugging his pillow to his side tighter, "What? Is me listening to Slepp Tolken taking you off guard this much?"
"Yes!" Augustine shook his friend's shoulders, to which the blonde burst into full-on laughter.
The brown-haired male let out a deep and loud sigh, head bowed as he held Winnie at arm's length. "Let's just get you to my place. Mom's been excited to see you again. She basically redecorated my room so you'd feel at home."
"Awww... what about you? Did you miss me?" The blondie wiggled his eyebrows, leaning his face close to Augustine's.
"Shut up..." he sighed, though the smile on his face gave him away, "I missed you lots, Winnie."
Winnie's heart skipped a beat at the admission, the softening of his Auggie's voice was... odd but pleasant to hear.
Augustine pulled away fully and put his hands in his pockets, turning to look at the bus again, "Where's your stuff?"
The blonde was brought back to reality as he remembered he still had a ton of stuff to carry to Augustine's place. He scratched his neck with his free hand and chuckled, "Right, let's get my things!"
The two spent the rest of the afternoon carrying Winnie's luggage home; luckily, he had packed most of his things into one big suitcase. Augustine dragged the large suitcase while Winnie carried the two smaller bags he had for his toiletries, all enough to stay the whole summer. The journey there was pretty peaceful. Winnie talked Augustine's ear off with the things he hadn't already told him about through text or call.
At Augustine's home, Winnie looked around. The place stayed relatively the same from the last time he had visited, except maybe for a few decorations rearranged and such. He took his shoes off as Augustine did and followed him as he made a beeline for his room. He was probably avoiding his mom, Winnie thought to himself.
He chuckled internally and entered Augustine's room. It really was redecorated—there was an inflatable mattress on the floor, covered with a bedsheet and duvet, these, along with the other beddings were in his signature blues and whites in his old room. Augustine was taken away.
"Woah... your mom did all this?"
Augustine chuckled and shrugged his shoulders, "With my help of course. Hey, I'll just leave your luggage here, feel free to unpack."
The blonde nodded, putting his bags, pillow, and blanket down on his bed. "Oh! I almost forgot!"
Augustine let out a curious hum, watching as his friend scurried to open his large suitcase, laying it down and unzipping it. It was like a treasure chest as it opened, sadly, it didn't have any gold. What Winnie pulled from it, though, was a cute bear onesie. Once more, Augustine was left in shock as he looked at the two items.
"Winnie..."
The blonde looked excited, staring at the brunette as he waited for his response, "Well...?"
"This is for me?" Augustine felt his cheeks warm up, as if nicked by the cold of winter.
"Mhm!" Winnie put the onesie down and then pulled out a matching elk onesie, "Got myself one too!" He laughed playfully.
Augustine let out a breath, shaking his head as a sappy smile tugged on his lips insistently. He lowered his head and crossed his arms. "It's a stupid gift..."
Winnie opened his mouth to respond, but the brunette stopped him, "Thanks, Winnie, I love it."
The blonde huffed fondly and smiled as well, "No problem, Auggie."
"Your back beneath the sun
Wishin' I could write my name on it
Will you call when you're back at school?
I remember thinkin' I had you
But I can see us lost in the memory
August slipped away into a moment in time
'Cause it was never mine
And I can see us twisted in bedsheets
August sipped away like a bottle of wine
'Cause you were never mine"
august, Taylor Swift
This song is so Augwin coded, down to the name like WHAT. I cannot stop imagining them with this song so- might as well take this chance to practice fake anime screenshots
