( @nvnchalants ) "I can’t believe we’re doing this,” Grace said to Augustus when she met him in the hallway of city hall. She let the door fall behind her on muffled applause, so they could head to the technology room. Their run-in last week had turned into a complaint fest about the mayor’s recent transgressions, and it was time to put their plans into action, but anxiety gripped Grace’s every step.
( @nvnchalants ) “Augustus!” Cara called his name from atop her chair. Her wave was as broad as her smile, the flowers in her hand no more than a bright flash of color.
( @nvnchalants ) Grace spotted Augustus across the crowd and headed in his direction. When they reached his side, Bear started to lick at Augustus’s feet. “Come on, Bear, not now,” Grace tugged slightly on his leash. “Sorry about him. How are you enjoying the ‘basheroni’?” she grinned, knowing Augustus would find the term as ridiculous as she did.
( @nvnchalants ) Grace usually opted for frozen yogurt or something lighter than ice cream, but in a moment of bizarre weakness thinking about the Sasha Goldblum investigation, she headed into the Creamery for a scoop of ice cream. Cookies and cream in a cup. As she settled into a bar stool, she noticed the young man in the next seat over. Her eyes kept darting back to him, trying to place him. “Oh!” she said loudly when it hit her, a bit embarrassed by her outburst. “Sorry, I just recognized you. You came into my business once for a wedding.”
