THIS IS CUTE PLEASE
rvetheday:
sawyer sighed, ducking his head as cara stormed off. he couldn’t let her leave like that, couldn’t stand the thought of one of the people he loved most in this town being so upset at him. standing up, he jogged to catch up to her, schooling his expression into something softer than the confused state it had been in since cara’s first outburst. “hey, hey, i’m sorry,” he said, settling into a walk beside her, “i didn’t mean to come off as condescending. you know i worry about you.”
Part of Cara, the tiny voice of reason that sometimes spoke its mind, told her that this was ridiculous—that she was ridiculous—but as usual her erratic emotions squanched it. “You’re not even listening to me. I said you did it even if you didn’t mean to, and you’re still babying me and saying you’re worried about me even though I said not to. Just leave me alone, Sawyer.”
violentparties:
“yeah, yeah, you’re right, he was probably just some stuck up hipster asshole,” indy said, trying to clear her head of the interaction and the doubt that had crept into the very front of her mind. all she wanted to do was pack up her shit and go home to sulk, even if by doing that would feel like proving the assholes and her father right. “thank you for coming. i think i would have went totally off the rails if you weren’t here.”
“Pfft, you didn’t need me here. You would have been fine on your own,” Cara fibbed. Even she knew Indy really could have gone off on the man. “I’m just happy I got to be here to support my best friend! It looks like a lot of people are starting to head out, maybe in a few minutes we can pack up and go home? I just got some new ice cream yesterday,” she sang, trying to lure Indy into her plot.
masongrvenwood:
“You wanna go sit in the shade for a bit?” Mason asked placing a hand on Cara’s elbow gently looking at her carefully. “That might help a bit.” Biting down on their bottom they considered their options because they didn’t want Cara to faint.
“Yeah, that’s a good idea, we should definitely do that,” Cara nodded enthusiastically. Not that they had any way of knowing, but Mason’s concern was entirely too much for Cara’s hyperbole. However, everyone on the beach could probably use a little rest. Cara happily took the opportunity to criss cross under the shady palms, the water bottle still against her forehead. “The beach is starting to look really good, isn’t it?”
noahcvrpenter:
“That’s true. It is pretty warm out today. I’m surprised no one hasn’t gotten heatstroke yet.” Noah said in agreement with what Cara said raising the bottle to his lips drinking the rest of it tossing the bottle into the recycling bin smirking when it went in. “Well, I broke down and bought the more expensive deodorant that lasts forty-eight hours so that might be a factor. You should see how sweaty my back is right now though.”
“I guess you should have put deodorant on your back, then,” Cara joked. Well, it was a joke for her anyway. “I guess it would be kind of hard to reach back there. You look squeaky clean, though, and I’m over here, like, with soaking wet hair because I’m literally sweating entire buckets. I guess most people remembered to bring their water, huh?”

Farren laughed at the joke, shrugging. Following Cara towards the restaurant, she stuck out her tongue in exaggerated disgust. “Feesh ees not very good. I could eat an entire steak right now. But maybe I weel settle for a burger.” She pulled her wallet out of her bag, opening it up and counting her money inside. “I really need to start working… I’m getting low.” She sighed. In the few weeks she had been living here, her father had been sending her what he could, but she felt bad about it. Her sister and father didn’t have much money. She had to figure it out quick.
“Oh, you don’t like fish? I don’t eat it all the time, but there’s so much of it around here,” Cara rambled as they walked into the restaurant. The host sat them, and Cara thanked them quickly, more concerned about Farren’s money situation. “Oh, I can pay for you today. And maybe I can try to find you an job on set or something! What have you done before?”
no one is you. that is your power.
violentparties:
“oh, fuck, dude, what if he was an art critic?” indy asked, a completely panicked look on her face. she knew it was probably unlikely and that she was being totally irrational, but she cared about her art more than almost anything else in the world. she shook her head, trying to shake the thoughts of self-doubt snaking into her mind. “whatever, he was an idiot either way,” she declared, the confidence in her voice completely fabricated, “he was so rude. kept talking about how my stuff wasn’t polished enough to be here.” maybe he’s right, she thought, but didn’t voice, the thought too vulnerable to be made real with words.
“Well, it’s not like you came here to get critiqued, so it’s really none of his business,” Cara attempted, though her weak consolation probably wasn’t very effective. She paused for a beat before trying to add more helpfully, “Plus I doubt he was. He would have said and tried to wave his authority around. Plus aren’t critics supposed to be, like, constructive? He was just dumb.”
rvetheday:
“i wasn’t implying anything, i just don’t want you feeling any worse,” sawyer said, his brows furrowed in confusion. he was just trying to help, not having expected to see this side of cara today. he was trying not to take it too personally, but it was hard to completely remove himself from the fact that his best friend was pissed at him for no real reason. “you can do whatever you want,” he insisted, “it was just a suggestion.”
“Well, you were treating me like a baby whether you meant to or not,” Cara snapped, her brows furrowing angrily now. She stared crossly at Sawyer for a moment before her bubbling emotions became too much. “This is so dumb, I’ll see you later,” she said shortly before turning on her heel and marching away.
cvramia:
“No, it’s fine!” Carolina told Cara waving her hand at her smiling before glancing around at the beach noticing they’d made good progress of the cleaning up they did. “No rush on getting me another bottle. Are you hungry? Maybe we can take a break and get something to eat?”
“Yeah, that would be nice!” Cara agreed with a happy smile. “It looks like that big group just got here, so they probably won’t miss us too much.” Setting aside her supplies, Cara tied her hair in a ponytail before smiling brightly at Carolina. “Where to?”
