Joy.

Elation.

Regis had surprised Aulea with a trip to Altissia, one of their favorite spots to get away. They would camp on the way, their tent several paces away from the guard, just to give themselves some more privacy. It was the time when they could mostly be themselves. In the castle, there were so many people that would interrupt and bring them back to their lives as rulers. People that wanted to vie for her husband's attention, even if they were both busy. But here?

Here Aulea could be who she wanted, and they could enjoy their time as they so wished. Especially when they weren't traveling for some royal matter, but for their own enjoyment. It was t he time that the Queen loved the most. Perhaps that's why she was humming that morning as she walked down to the stream - another reason they had stopped where they had, there was a close enough location for herking to go fishing. The though alone had her rolling her eyes, a small chuckle leaving her lips as she leaned down, gathering enough of the stream water in a bottle, and cleaning her hands, before she straightened back up.

Straightening up, she looked out towards the horizon, her lips pulling up into a smile. This was everything she had been needing. It was-

The feeling of something - someone- kicking at her ribs had the queen's hand falling down to rest on her stomach.

"I know, my darling. I'm telling him when I get back to camp. He'll be so excited to meet you."

The words were quiet, murmured to the air more than anything since the baby in her stomach wouldn't be able to hear her. She had just gotten past the first trimester and was finally at a point where she felt comfortable enough to tell Regis. It was something she had learned the hard way, waiting until she was far enough along, so she wouldn't get his hopes up. They had been trying to give Noctis, their sweet little prince, a sibling for a few years now. Finally? Finally it was happening.

All she had to do now was to tell the father.

With a soft breath, and the thumb on her finger swiping along her clothed stomach, Aulea turned and started back towards the camp.

Fear.

Anxiousness.

She only got about halfway back to the camp site when she noticed something was wrong. There was far more noise than there should have been for this early in the morning, too much yelling and a noise she couldn't register. It made her hesitate, just for a moment, before speeding up, a furrow between her brow.

When Aulea was just a turn away from being able to see their tents, through the bushes came Clarius. Normally the sight of the man would make her smile, usually she'd hold her hand out towards him for him to take. While most only knew the solider as Regis' personal guard, he was so much more to the queen than that. He was a friend. A confidant. A lover. She needed him almost as much as she needed her king.

Normally, when Clarius reached out to grab onto her shoulder, she'd lean into the touch with a chuckle. The look on his face, though, froze her to the spot. "Clarius, what's wrong? You don't look-"

"You have to go hide. We don't know if there's anymore that might show up."

"What are you talking about?" His words confused the queen, her head tilting to the side to try and see through to the camp. To where the sounds that she now registered as swords clashing had faded, replaced only by silence. "What happened?"

"Soliders from Niflheim. They came out of nowhere. We were able to finish them off, but there could be more. You have to g- Aulea!"

The queen had already took off, running down the path the rest of the way. The tents came into view and her blood ran cold when she saw the bodies on the ground. Most of them were those of the foreign tech, but she could see several of their guards as well. Her eyes ran across every face, but none of them were Regis.

Silence.

Empty.

Aulea could hear Clarius calling to her, but she ignored him as she made a straight line for her tent, throwing open the canvas flaps. The moment she saw him on the ground, she crumbled to the floor. Her king. Her husband. Father to her babies, best friend and the man that meant more to her than any title or any kingdom ever could. The blood pooling from his chest was dark against the white of his skin, eyes thankfully closed.

Pulling herself along the ground, she lost track of everything. She couldn't hear herself sobbing, couldn't hear the footsteps coming up behind her into the tent. There was no noise, nor could she feel the rocks under her palms as she reached him.

"Aulea...."

There was pain in the way the man said her name, but she didn't let it stop her from reaching out to pull Regis' head into her lap, her own moving to rest their foreheads together. "Come back. You have to come back." Aulea's voice was already hoarse from sobbing, her entire body shaking as she rocked with his body back and forth. "I'm pregnant, Regis. T-the baby needs you, Noct needs you. I...."

She broke down to the point of not being able to speak, his blood starting to seep into her clothes, staining them crimson. She was oblivious to the arms wrapping around her from behind, to the voice telling her she needed to let go.

Aulea wasn't sure how long she sat there before everything went black.

Anger.

Grief.

The next thing that she actually remembered was opening her eyes in their room. She had passed out from stress and exhaustion, sobbing and shaking on the ground of that tent. Clarius had carried her back himself, Regis being taken care of by several of the guards. There were no words spoken in the car on the way back, only the man's hand running along her back and through her hair to try and soothe her.

As if anything would make this better.

As if anything would make this go away.

Aulea shuddered as she looked a round, her cold body reminding her of the fact that everything had happened was real. Her husband was gone, the kingdom had lost their king, and Noct... the baby...

Her hand fell to her stomach, wanting to hold the little one close as she she pushed out of the room. She couldn't be in the room she shared with Regis. It was too much being able to smell him, see things everywhere that reminded her of him. Without thinking, her legs carried her through the halls to the main throne room, pausing in the middle of the room.

She didn't notice the guards hesitating by the door, obviously wanting to give her her space, but refusing to let her be alone given the current situation. Clarius was farther in the room, but even he knew not to touch the queen at the moment.

Aulea's eyes took in the banners, proudly showing off their family crest, and the flowers that were on stands through out the room. She had picked them all out herself, instructed the attendants to get them prepared while they were gone to surprise Regis when they got back. She had thought they'd have something to celebrate.

For a long moment, all she did was stare at them, feeling everything building inside of her chest. He was gone. The kingdom was going to be in chaos, and all she could feel was anger. Anger at the MT's for taking her husband and her kids father, anger that he had surprised her with this trip in the first place, anger that she had left him that morning instead of asking him to come with her.

Screaming, from as deep in her chest as she could muster, she reached for the banners and started to tear them down, knocking over the pillars of flowers to the ground. She kept screaming as she went up to the throne and hit the seat with her hands, falling down to her knees.

Aulea didn't think she stopped screaming for hours, before her voice was all but gone.

Everything was leaving. Gone. Vanishing from in front of her eyes.

And it all started with Regis.

My experiment in creating Noctis's mother Aulea from Noctis's face by editing its shape and adding make up. I chose Gentiana's suit cause think it is suit to Lucis's style of clothing.

In 2nd and 3rd pics I decided to change color of her costume to black-grey.

An Au I really wish for.

I have a headcanon about Aulea. 

Imagine that when Noctis was born, Bahamut first revealed the prophecy to Aulea, because the love of a mother rivals the power of the gods on even the worst days. And I imagine that this is especially true with Aulea, mother of the king of light. And when she refuses, he takes his chance and steals the life out of her while she sleeps. 

Now imagine an AU where this didn’t work. Aulea survives the god’s attempts to kill her by sheer chance, and begins planning. She just needs at least one god on her side. Just one. One god to stand against Bahamut with her and save her child. And when she finishes planning, she leaves Insomnia in the dead of night with Noctis. 

With the help of some old friends, she covers her tracks so the king wouldn’t be able to find her until her mission was done. And though the kingdom flies into a panic at the missing queen and prince, she is very good at what she does. She’s cunning and a mother backed into a corner. She won’t rest or make a mistake until her son’s future is safe.

Now imagine that the Oracle, Sylva, is sent a dream from the messengers, who sees their chance to change what has been foretold. She dreams of another queen, one who’s will would defy the gods. And she knows her own daughter’s fate. She’s an oracle in full, and has seen so far ahead because she’s supposed to guide the future into the path she has seen. But seeing a fellow queen risk everything for her child, she breaks tradition. She sends out her messenger companions, to whisper in the ears of sleeping gods, to let them know of her own break with the prophecy. 

Then, like the other, she sets out, but leaves her children behind. The prophecy protects them even while she tries to break it. Bahamut would be unwilling to risk the fate of the destined last oracle, even if the four-year-old girl had yet to receive her calling. And she seeks those sleeping, even that Infernian, who reveals to her the tragedy that befell the first healer of Eos. And Sylva felts her heart turn to steel, as she promises to heal the fallen one. 

Her own country falls into panic as their queen also vanishes, months after the Insomnian queen.

One by one, she wakes the gods for the other queen, and leaves behind a trail for her to follow, guiding the queen down this new, unknown path. And Aulea doesn’t disappoint. She stands with her child at her back, and faces down the gods, one at a time. And each time, they pledge to undo the mistake they made when they had been young gods. It’s only when Sylva is outside the city of Insomnia the two finally meet face to face, and gather each other in a hug that is both crushing and healing. Noctis is now one, and bears the marks of the gods on his soul, to protect his life. If Bahamut dares to try and harm him he’ll be facing the unbridled power of his fellow gods. 

They return to the city, and they fall into an uproar at seeing the oracle, unharmed and alive. Found after being missing. Though she is livid, and demands to speak with the crystal. Behind her stands a hooded stranger with a bundle in their arms, and when she removes her hood, the king rushes over to her, angry and relieved at seeing his wife and child unharmed. But she tells him that she has one more task to complete before she can explain. She goes with the oracle and together they face Bahamut. 

He is enraged, and tried to strike them down upon pulling them into his realm. But he’s then confronted with the others. And they know a way to strip the scourge from the original king. To end the eternal war between man and demon, and it’s that they give up their vigil as gods. And they enact their will, even if Bahamut is unwilling. 

They step down, and become mortal, though with some traces of their powers, like that of the Lucis Caelums and Fleurets. They shatter the crystal, and the light resulting from the break covers the world, and sinks into it’s very core.  Ardyn is cured, and returned to the healer he once was before the scourge corrupted his mind. The magitek stop before they’re really started, and the ones who’re still children have what darkness in them ripped out. Most pass away because of this. Some survive. And one has light sink down into his very soul, and becomes capable of healing like another once was. 

And the world ends up at peace.

Episode Ardyn wishlist (and theories)

Since the first trailer for Episode Ardyn Prologue drops in less than 11 hours, here’s what I’d like the anime and/or the DLC to tell us more about:

The first Oracle. Who was she? Was she part of the Fleuret family? What was her relationship with Ardyn and Somnus? What happened to her?

Gentiana. Was she already there 2,000 years before the events of FFXV? Was she a person, a regular human being before she became Shiva’s messenger? What was her relationship with the Oracle, Ardyn, and Somnus?

Iedolas Aldercalt. Did Ardyn really manipulate him? And how did Niflheim know about Ardyn and where to find him?

Verstael Besithia. Is he the one who found out about Ardyn and decided to free him? What was his plan? And will we finally know who got baby Prompto out of the Magitek production facility? Was it... Ardyn himself? Was having Verstael be destroyed by his own creation Ardyn’s plan all along?

Regis Lucis Caelum. Did he know Ardyn was imprisoned in Angelgard or had everyone forgotten about the fallen son of Lucis? At what point did he understand how big of a threat Ardyn was to the world... and to Noctis?

Ifrit. How did Ardyn resuscitate him? Was his mind corrupted or did he willingly decide to join forces with Adryn?

Shiva. I’d like to see the imperial attack on Shiva and to know what role Ardyn played in this attack.

Bahamut, the other gods, and the Crystal. Who is responsible for Ardyn’s banishment? Who decided Ardyn was impure and couldn’t become the first King of Light?

Gilgamesh. How and why is he still alive and able to use his powers in FFXV? He was the Founder King’s shield but was he Ardyn’s shield? Where they friends?

Armiger. Did Ardyn travel the world in search for all the weapons? How (and when) did he obtain the Sword of the Father? How does it work?

The Izunia family. Why were they chosen to become the royal family? Why change their name to Lucis Caelum?

Ardyn’s Black Chocobo. It probably exists and I want to see it.

Somnus. Was he really jealous of his older brother, and why? What was their relationship? Did he have some kind of magical power too? Was he the one who decided to imprison Ardyn or was he forced to do so? Was he a bad guy or just another victim of the gods?

And of course, Ardyn himself. Was he born with his healing powers or did the gods gift them to him, and why? What did it look like when he healed someone? Was he aware of the fact he was corrupting his own body in the process? Has he ever been king (even though he was denied the title of King of Light)? Was his imprisonment somewhat justified or was he really just a victim? At what point did he stop being a good and altruistic healer? Did everyone turn away from him or did some people try to support/defend him? Are his actions influenced by the scourge inside him or did he really just decide to become a monster out of spite? Did he stay awake for 2,000 years? Did he suffer a leg injury (a popular theory)? How old was he when he became immortal? Did he have a significant other or children and, if so, what happened to them? And, finally, what exactly was his plan in FFXV and did he want to die?

I also hope that, at some point in the DLC, we’ll see Aulea (Noctis’ mother) and “Mr. Nox Fleuret” (Ravus and Luna’s father). Sylva needs more screen time too.
