dear lord. never in my life I've seen the tense amount of infantilization I've seen for a fictional character until now. I'm just so genuinely curious atp... what is it about stolas that makes these stans so protective about him?
I realised something was slightly missing whenever I watched the clip of gt Vegeta driving and that is, we could've got a driving school filler episode with him!
what made Vegeta want to get a drivers license even though he can fly? how well did he do on his driving test? can he do parallel parking without breaking down? did he wear a silly outfit on that day? so many questions
I’m convinced it was Bulma who convinced him to get one. Like she needs someone to drive the kids to school while she’s busy with Capsule Corp stuff so she asks Vegeta to do it.
Vegeta would argue that Trunks and Bulla can just fly to school but Bulma doesn’t want to draw suspicion over the fact that her husband and kids are FREAKING ALIENS! So Vegeta comply to get one (cause wife is always right). Vegeta would think very little of it in the beginning like:
“I’ve driven multiple complex space crafts when I was apart of Frieza’s army! How hard can driving this lousy motor vehicle be-”
*crashes car*
It did take him time to learn to drive properly (maybe Trunks helped his dad out teaching him the basics), but eventually he got the hang of it and successfully obtained a license. He didn’t care that he got it but he knew it meant a lot to Bulma so it had value. Also, I like to imagine Vegeta is a way better driver than Goku and Piccolo just to spit them both. The very idea that he’s better at more common and very simple tasks in life compared the two of them brings him satisfaction.
That doesn’t mean Vegeta doesn’t get road rage. We’ve seen it first hand when he ripped those guys stirring wheel off their car for hitting on his daughter. Probably wasn’t the first time he’s done that. Then again, valid. I’d lose my shit too if my tween daughter was being hit on by grown ass creepy adult men.
it's me again! bothering you again with my silly saiyan headcanons
with all the rage of Vegeta loving taking baths with Bulma, it makes me think harder. hear me out on this, the reason Vegeta likes baths cus it's part of saiyan culture
here I go again with this. so you know how japanese macaques are known for taking baths in hot springs during the winter? I headcanon saiyans socialised through grooming. after long days of battling on other planets, their homeworld has large volcanic springs that they would go to relax. for partners, this is a very intimate moment for them and somewhat a sign of trust to each other, as both of them are in vulnerable positions in the water. cleaning their bodies and brushing their hair together... oh wow... this intimacy also applies to their children, another way of bonding time.
but this practice slowly get abandoned by the saiyans after King Cold's rule, so they have not lot of time to go the springs. I think the higher class and royal saiyans are able to spend more time there due to privilege and whatnot.
this practice is somewhat instinctual as we already see Goku loves taking hot baths after training and spending time with his sons in it.
NEVER think you’re bothering me! I LIVE for fun asks that get my brain thinking! Especially when it comes to one of my favorite animes!
Honestly, Saiyans bathing in a giant volcanic hot spring sound so canon to them XD It just FEELS like a Saiyan thing to do lol
Also I really love the idea of the Saiyans losing some of their customs and traditions after being under King Cold and later Frieza's rule. Truly shows how their empire was slowly consumed by Cold and Frieza over the years to the point they basically lost a part of what made them Saiyans, even if it's little things like bathing/grooming as a way to form intimacy. Maybe we can see it like a strategy from Frieza and Cold to make the Saiyans more distant from each other so they don't have to worry about them rebelling or worse, procreating more Saiyans that would out number their empire XD
this has always been in my head, but I always think of the possibility of Vegeta's mother. what does she look like? what's her personality like? does she love her two sons? was she as strong as king Vegeta? she's gotta be if she's the queen. although Vegeta is one of the main characters, we barely know much of his family history. even the other characters were surprised he had a younger brother. just tidbits from official sources and anime only scenes.
You and me both. I’m always thinking about Vegeta and Tarble’s Mother, the wife of King Vegeta III, the literal Queen of the Saiyans!
What happened to her? Where is she? Did she die along side the Saiyans or did she pass before the destruction of their planet? Does Vegeta know his mother, if so how did he feel about her? What was his relationship like with her? SO MANY QUESTIONS!!
And given that we didn’t get a confirmation of Goku’s own mother, Gine, until like 2014 when she made her debut in the manga and first animated appearance being in Broly movie in 2018, it’s probably gonna take even LONGER for us to get even anything in canon to acknowledge Vegeta’s mother.
I've always said that the next thing we should get is a Vegeta movie, specifically a movie about his life growing up in the Frieza force. Have the movie explore deeper into what his relationship was like with Nappa and Raditz, see him transform into a great ape for the first time and how he learned to master it, and maybe even have flashback sequences of his father and also his mother just to get more of an idea of what his relationship was like with them.
But if were gonna talk about the Saiyan Queen, I wanna share some of my headcanons I have on her!
First off, her name! In DB Super, before his daughter is born, we get a scene of Vegeta brainstorming baby names and he thinks of the name "Eschalot" (pun on the vegetable "shallot") and seems quite fond of it, saying its "not too bad" and says his daughter deserves a transitional Saiyan name. I like to think Eschalot was his mother's name.
Queen Eschalot, has a nice ring to it, huh? :D
So I'm going to refer to her as such for the rest of this post. Queen Eschalot and King Vegeta ruled Planet Vegeta together, both as strong warriors. Eschalot was known as being very calm and collective, strategic and a skilled fighter, and also a bit aloof at times as well. Rarely smiled, not that she was unhappy, but that she believes a Queen must always seem strong and never show weakness, and to her a smile was a weakness (basically always had a resting bitch face, one that Prince Vegeta inherited lol) and King Vegeta truly loved his wife. She was his world.
I shared another headcanon once where I said Saiyan women take initiative when it comes to dating/courting/finding a partner. So I imagine Eschalot, who was a high ranking warrior or a noble woman, saw King Vegeta, thought he was hot and walked right up to him. K!Vegeta is shocked this mysterious elegant woman just approached the newly crowned King of Saiyans without hesitation. "Do you have a Queen yet, your majesty?" she said, her voice calm, almost coming off as threatening. "N-No." the kind replies, overwhelmed by her beauty. "Well, you do now." she offers her hand, signaling for him to take it and he does.
Soon they were married, Eschalot became queen and eventually gave birth to the heir of the Saiyan throne, Prince Vegeta IV. Eschalot adored her first born son and P!Vegeta loved his mother, despite not seeing her as often as he wished (always on planet conquering missions since childhood, you know?). Then Eschalot was pregnant again and gave birth to Tarble, but unfortunately she didn't make it. Queen Eschalot died giving birth to the second Saiyan Prince. Heartbroken over the death of his wife, K!Vegeta had Tarble banished to a far off planet, blaming him for killing the Queen. When P!Vegeta asked why his brother was sent away, K!Vegeta lied and said it was because his brother had a low power level and P!Vegeta, believing his father, didn't question it. Tarble and Vegeta never knew the truth about what happened to their mother. Vegeta never even knew his mom died giving birth to his brother, believing his mom died along side the other Saiyans at the hands of Frieza (because again, Vegeta was always off planet so he wasn't there when his brother was born, mom died, etc.)
After all these years, Vegeta struggles to remember his mother and he deep down feels ashamed to have forgotten her. She died when he was so young and even during his youth he rarely saw her. All Vegeta remembers of his mother now is her name and the faint sound of her voice.
I had a random thought on vegebul, as always. i wonder how vegeta feels of sharing the same bed with Bulma after finally getting together to raise trunks. how long did it take for him to get comfortable sleeping next to bulma? did he like it when bulma tries to be intimate with snuggling him under the blanket and caressing each other's skin?
I read a really good fanfic that covered this topic and I personally consider it to be canon cause it feels so in character for them both. How their situation started was they would have sex and then Vegeta would go off and sleep in his own separate room, this was during their casual hooking up phase. Vegeta and Bulma never shared a bed in the beginning of their relationship, but overtime as the relationship developed into something more, Bulma convinced him to start sleeping in the same bed as her at least once a week. That then slowly graduated into him naturally sleeping with her instinctively and not wanting to sleep without her by his side.
The fanfic is called “Pillowtalk”, it’s on AO3. I’ll leave a link HERE if you wanna check it out.
you know I was thinking but idk why Hercules and Megara is what I imagined King Vegeta and Queen Eschalot were like together.
it's super random, but it made sense yknow? a sassy girlboss and an inexperienced strong guy... mm my favourite. this could also be Vegeta and Bulma.
I know Toriyama once said Saiyans only get together for bearing children, and it's only rare for them to be together due to a loving bond, but it just so sweet to think like this. this is what limited material of your fav character does to you lmao.
Dynamite wise, hell yess! Personality wise, nope.
Eschalot is sassy but not a loud sassy like Meg is if that makes sense. She’s definitely the quiet type, usually only speaks when spoken to, and has an excellent poker face, but when she has an opinion, she will say it in the most cold nonchalant tone you will ever hear. To the point people question if she’s genuinely serious or if she’s being sarcastic.
One thing however is that, if Eschalot steps in to say something, King Vegeta KNOWS he fucked up. She’s the only Saiyan on Planet Vegeta who can tell the King to “be silent” and he will.
Their dynamic is mainly ruthless egotistical king just blowing up planets left and right while laughing maniacally x aloof queen calmly sipping her tea, not at all phased by the massacre she’s witnessing (an average Tuesday for her lol)
Also could you please point me to the source where Toriyama said that about Saiyans? I see so many people talk about that but from what I’ve gathered and from what other people have told me, it’s just a fan theory/headcanon. Much appreciated! :)
imagine trunks seeing his parents weird ways of love. he prolly doesn't know about their bath time but he definitely witnessed the adulting stuff like accidentally caught them in almost lewd acts around the house, hearing weird noises coming from their room, his dad's 'punishments'
the boy can't catch a break XD
I definitely think that Trunks is aware, but he just doesn’t know the full extent of what his parents do when they’re alone. Sometimes he’ll hear weird noises coming out from of their bedroom or mom’s lab or bathroom and immediately walk away covering his ears, internally screaming.
There was very likely a time Trunks did walk in on his parents being freaky. It’s was an awkward moment with everyone staring at each other in silence, like deers in headlights, before Trunks slowly walked out of the room, not saying a single word. After that day, he and Vegeta formed an unspoken agreement that they just don’t talk about what happened and any future things he possibly might see. If they don’t discuss it then whatever Trunks thinks he saw/heard never happened! So when Trunks gets older he just gets used to his parents being weirdos, and Bulla will probably be the same too. It’s their parents, they learned to get used to it.
Though, this does remind me of a fan comic I saw a while ago where Future Trunks is visiting and he sees Vegeta and Bulma doing something risqué (I think Bulma was licking Vegeta’s face or something idk) and Future Trunks is absolutely MORTIFIED at the very idea of them showing affection but Present Trunks (who’s also watching it all go down) is not at all phased XD
this is very random. I was scrolling through cus I was bored and then I saw this post and I had a 'how can I make this about vegeta and his family' moment
specifically vegeta and tarble. tarble comes to visit earth once in a blue moon and would suggest to vegeta to come see space together. Vegeta, obviously doesn't want to due to his time in the frieza force and destroying planets whatnot. but this time, he gives in and.. he had an epiphany of life and other cheesy stuff about family and being content of where you are.
I like to imagine Vegeta and Tarble had a forced “brother bonding day” because of Bulma and Gure, like they wanted their husbands to spend time with each other thinking it’ll be good for them both. Vegeta and Tarble weren’t crazy about the idea but by the end of it all they surprisingly enjoyed spending time together, realizing they were both raised in an isolated life style until they found something or someone *cough* Bulma and Gure *cough* to kept them going, find purpose and happiness, and started families of their own.
