What would school be like for the RaMona children?
I have a headcannon that even when the world starts accepting mutants, the turtles are still a little bit paranoid, especially Raph because they were raised to be distrusting of humans. (April and Casey being the only exceptions.)
So, I am wondering, in your opinion, by the time the turtles and their friends start having kids, would the world be accepting enough to allow their kids to attend school?
If so, would Raph and Mona allow their kids to go, or be too overprotective and homeschool them themselves (Or Zoom? lol)
Good question! Some time ago I actually gave the short answer to a similar question HERE but to go into further detail regarding it, I would have to set the scene of what society is like during my TMNT 2012 Future AU.
So by the time Raph and Mona Lisa get married, society has already become aware of mutants but are having a hard time adjusting to the idea of allowing them into society. Some are more accepting than others like Mr Murakami’s restaurant being the first public place to welcome mutants. Mikey is a big activist in pushing for Mutants to be accepted into society, he works at Murakami’s restaurant but he’s also working on a little passion project to turn the under city beneath the sewers into an place for mutants to live instead of hiding in the shadows up top.
Mikey along with the help of the Mighty Mutanimals are working to turn it into basically something similar to the Hidden Yokai City in Rottmnt and the Mutant Town in the IDW Comics. Shops, restaurants, schools and all other kinds of things will be available for Mutants to use, but the city wouldn’t be completed until most of the RaMona kids are older.
Raph and Mona moved out to live at the farmhouse shortly after they got married and that’s where they raised their kids. So they aren’t involved in the under city project. Raph loves being out at the farmhouse cause it gives his kids the chance to be outside and have more freedom than he ever had growing up in the sewers. Also when they visit the city, Raph is way more protective of them, cause he’s had firsthand experiences of how cruel humans can be.
For the children’s education, there’s no nearby school for them to attend so instead they are home schooled. Raph and Mona teach their kids the basic stuff (counting, writing, language, etc) but when they get older, Uncle Donnie comes by and teaches them the more advanced stuff.
