Venjent f/ Auracle "Ancient Techniques"!

i really could just type "THE LAD DOES IT AGAIN!" and be done with it. at this point, everyone here should be WELL aware of Venjent's gimmick. take a cool thing he found and make it into a killer track. sometimes with a positive message to carry things along. well, check and check here. and of course it puts him in the Track of the Year chart.

so let's instead focus on Auracle. this time, the "cool thing he found" is a jaw harp player on short form media. sometime in august she recorded a little jam with this harp and some shakers. it got a couple thousand views, nothing crazy. but clearly Venjent found it, and had her rerecord it without the shakers. layer his staple DnB rhythm + bass design over it, and you already have a winner.

but we gotta get that secret spice. just one sentence, sung harmonically over a guitar, with JUST enough of a scream layered over it. that dash of positivity makes a winner into a champion. it's a message we all need. look at our history, learn from it, build ourselves into something better. pair that all with an out-of-nowhere 4x4 drop and it's an absolute star power moment.

this is all to say... THE LAD DOES IT AGAIN! but MASSIVE credit to Auracle for helping him to do it again. she's incredibly talented and you should check out her channel.

Auracle – Glider

Auracle was an American jazz-rock band that released two albums on Chrysalis in 1978 and 1979. The members released an earlier album as Inner Vision. Along with The Muffins and Pierre Moerlen’s Gong, Auracle were one of the few instrumental acts of this period to make extensive use of mallets. Auracle released their first album, Glider, in mid-1978 on Chrysalis. It features eight originals, including the staccato trumpet fest “Colombian Bubblegum,” the speedy mallet/horn entangled “Sleezy Listening,” the Rhodes-glistening gallop “‘Sno Fun,” the 7/8 samba shuffle “Chez Amis,” and the wiggly sax-ensnared “Tom Thumb.” The last of those was coupled with the album’s ivory/woodwind-laden title-track on a 12″ promo single. The album was co-produced by Teo Macero, whose other credits from the period include albums by Miles Davis, Paul Horn, Stan Getz, and Kimiko Kasai. The back cover features liner notes by Record World writer Sam Sutherland, who uses the phrase “state of the art” to describe the band’s musicianship and execution (JazzRockSoul).

Last night during my twitch session, I felt the words of my new friend as she added another to her ever growing list of loved ones who have ascended to “C”. I don’t care about numbers as much as I care about the need to service people with music. Occasionally we have to SPEAK to the hearts of men. This work is necessary. It doesn’t always live in mindless music that everyone know. It’s what makes the difference in thoughtful curation. It’s been hard for me these last few weeks in social media. An array of under acknowledged emotions live here. People are hiding from the pain of this period. And we are being reminded daily of the uncertainty.
