Ever since the announcement of her and Aurelio’s betrothal directly before leaving Spain— things have become...different. Before, they had been friends well enough, though perhaps they bickered a bit more often than most. But it was generally in good fun, and generally brought on by some flirtatious or salacious comment the Spanish Crown Prince had made in her direction. Then the betrothal had happened and...they’d fallen into some strange pattern of asking how the day had been and commenting on the weather. Not at all like what they’d been before.
Catarina abhorred it. She’d been shut out enough times in her life to know that she didn’t want to experience such a thing once more, so though she was anxious at the thought of talking about what had occurred...she knew it had to be done. She wasn’t sure if he’d been avoiding her or if their paths truly had simply been straying from one another in the palace, but she’d finally managed to pin down his location. Weaving her way down the massive aisles of the library, she finally found him perusing over books, and made a beeline for him. “Aurelio!” she said in a hushed whisper, though it probably wasn’t as quiet as would be ideal. Once she had gotten to him, she wasted no time in delving into the matter, anxiety making her get right to it. “I don’t want to be weird. So let’s- let’s just figure this all out right now so we don’t have to be like this.”
