If examining it further will help you on your path to peace with yourself, then it's worth doing! After all, examining your feelings about and relationship to gender doesn't mean you have to change anything, nor that you have to stay the same. It's just giving yourself some time to figure it out. :)

Just to reassure you on point one, most of us are like that. Hell, I AM a middle-aged woman and I can't imagine being a middle-aged woman and I'm not comfortable with it when I'm reminded of it (like looking in the mirror or when I get "ma'am"ed). As best I can tell from talking to people, that's very common! When you're 40-50, you'll probably still see yourself in your 20s, regardless of where on the gender spectrum you are then. So don't let that make you anxious :)

At the risk of presuming things, if he's an NT straight white man, he's going to be the last to feel the effects of what 45's doing so for him, there really isn't much difference between the three of them. It shows an overwhelming lack of empathy for those who are different from himself though.

He is a straight white man who sees himself as NT, and I agree with you.

The problem is that sometimes his points make sense. He said he extended Obama’s anti lgbtq discrimination workplace laws, and I looked it up and it’s true. And he said that Obama did similar anti-immigrant things. I know he’s horrid and I know one is SUPPOSED to make up one’s own mind but I’m terrible influenceable.

I feel you there. I've started cutting out blood family. Probably should have a long time ago but I thought it was good to try. Now they all think they have license to air their full homophobic, racist selves. I wish you luck with your own family over it.

Thanks. As far as straight white families go, I’m pretty lucky. My parents don’t support him, though they don't think it’s a huge deal. My strict Catholic grandmother actually texted me telling me she feels the same way I do on it. My only real problem is my brother. Who is only 16 and I can’t help thinking still has time to learn better.

(The other people were acquaintances I used to know and am not at all concerned about cutting off)
