These barges are reminiscent of the Bucintoro from medieval Venice. By Midjourney
little PC/NPC icons in honor of ending season 0 of the game!
JAHARL (she/her), main player character. Bloodthirsty, Good-Natured, Loyal. Dreams of a dead god.
TIBERIUS (he/they), Ally NPC. Salacious, Scheming. Cultist of the Drowned.
MERROW (she/her), Rival NPC. Pious, Kind. Devours the flesh of heretics.
AURICE (they/them), secondary player character. Jaded, Schmoozy. Fresh from Imperial ranks and peeved about it.
MEBDE (she/her), Ally NPC. Fatherly, Strict. Raised a generation of Wardens, including Aurice.
ARLINGTON (they/it), Rival NPC. Slick, Prideful. Aurice's infinitely more successful elder sibling.
two sketchy little sheets for some TTRPG characters--Aurice is my backup b-team Blades character right now, and Tiberius is one of Jaharl’s...’’’’’’friends’’’’’.
Aurice is technically Dom’s cousin from an older time period. They’re one of scores of basically normal humans sired by a Gilded Bank demon to be used as pawns. Their heritage imparts no special power, just resentment and some small peculiarities—fluctuating nerve damage and a taste for liquid mercury in Aurice’s case. The Bank link is mostly flavor because in-game they have no meaningful connection with their family and nor do they want to. They’re too busy being a vengeful cop-hater.
Tiberius is also in the camp of ‘technically hoity-toity’ in that they also have rich relatives, but he’s functionally middle class. Increasingly die-hard dead god cultist who is very tut-tut about Jaharl not embracing the slumbering terror of her potential. Doesn’t she want to do some dark rituals? Just a couple???
it’s OC-tober! Not doing inktober by name this year because of the The Controversy, but there’s tons of challenges to go around.
Renamed this character Aurice; they’re my newer Blades backup character.
Raised in an extremely strict boarding school, Auric was tutored amongst many lower-class fellow children to become a Warden of the city. As a powerful and respected position (with no small amount of risk, given the arcane horrors Wardens deal with), it’s considered very fortunate to be asked to be part of the training program. Worth the dangers.
Except that most of the actual Wardens in the city are born of high-class families, and as it turned out--much to Aurice’s growing resentment--those of their class were treated as little more than fodder during the lengthy apprenticeship, with vanishingly small chances of becoming fully inducted. Aurice eventually folded under a direct order they thought was suicidal and washed out of the program.
They’re EXTREMELY bitter about law enforcement and frankly a bit relieved to be in the more honest profession of career criminal. Their training serves them well in their new job. And they like the company better.
These are meant to be gibgibsews, great lizard beasts, ridden in the canals of Aurice. Gibgibsews are quite strong and could hold several riders, but probably not that many. Also, they look like eight-legged Gila Monsters. Midjourney refuses to produce an eight-legged reptile of any sort. by Midjourney
