The former UCLA gymnast has committed to performing in the inaugural Aurora Games, an all-women’s sports and entertainment festival. The Aurora Games will be held Aug. 20-25 in Albany, N.Y., and feature about 150 world-class athletes, including Olympic medalists and national champions.

Day two of the competition will see gymnastics athletes from Team World compete against gymnastics athletes from Team Americas in floor exercise, beam and more, including 10-time All-American and viral sensation, Katelyn Ohashi! An exciting, never-before-seen, competitive event overseen by renowned gymnastics coach Valorie Kondos Field.
Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Nadia Comaneci (Honorary Captains, Team Americas and Team World) Three-time Olympic gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee and five-team Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comaneci will serve as honorary team captains. Joyner-Kersee, an American track and field icon, will lead the athletes representing Team Americas. Comaneci, the legendary Romanian gymnast, will guide those competing for Team World.

Every time I look up figure skating on the internet all I see is Alysa’s quad lutz. The rhetoric surrounding this moment is driving me insane. Please wait until she lands it in a real competition (aka literally next week at JGP Lake Placid) to celebrate the technical feat of landing a quad. The Aurora Games are just a glorified exhibition. I want to celebrate too, but it’s way too early and this isn’t really a competition.
