In the heat of battle, June forgot that winning the match didn’t mean she beat Shiori in points. But at least she’s excited, right?

The lights were blazing white against the stage, all of the contestants for the first round lined up in what would be known as a general wellness and appearance segment of judging. Rin looked at everyone else’s pokemon, they all looked so nice- healthy and happy. Her eyes drifted t her own Cloyster, who equally looked as healthy and happy- she knew how to take care of her pokemon...but somehow she was still nervous about it.

Cloyster, was sitting happily at her side, shinning under the light and beaming herself. There wasn’t much in accessory she could have added to the shell pokemon, but a little bow, sea green in color to match the overall blue color scheme of the pokemon, attached to her pearl, carefully of course so as to not cause her any harm. 

“...Here we go,” She whispers as the Judge finally makes it around to them, standing closer to her partner. Cloyster seemed to liven up as the other human approached, making a sort of sing song growl that was actually rather pretty to listen to.

Aurora Cup Tough Appeal

The lights came up on June and her Pokemon, and the whole world seemed to slow down for her. Showtime. "Alright, let's go! Masha, set the stage with Swift! Berry, Cosmic Power!" The Togekiss flew into the air to scatter stars over the stage, tiny sparkles raining down on June and her Lopunny, who seemed to be absorbing the starlight above into her fur. It clashed with the theme, yes, but it was meant as a safety precaution more than anything else. "Masha, Ancient Power!" Masha summoned huge rocks around himself, arranging them in patterns for the audience like a magician proving there was nothing up his sleeves, and finally floating them in a circle below him. "Berry, use Fire Punch on the rocks!" Berry immediately leapt up, looking like a firework with her fists trailing fire. One by one, she split the rocks from Masha's Ancient Power in half, revealing crystals inside them that glittered with firelight. They continued to float in midair, looking like a miniature asteroid belt surrounding the Togekiss. Berry landed back at June's side, flipping her ears like hair as if to say, "Told you I could do it." "Masha, fly up and use Incinerate!" The Togekiss spiraled upward while charging the fireball, leaving behind a ribbon of orange fire, and hovering at the apex to charge up. Meanwhile, on the stage below, June and Berry seemed to be performing some elaborate secret handshake- high five, high kick, cross their legs in an 'X', and a final twirl. Most of the audience was undoubtedly mystified as to why this was happening, but a few of June's fans in the crowd started cheering loudly- this was how she started off her Mega Evolutions with her Lopunny! And sure enough- "Berry, Mega Evolve!" -Berry's Lopunnite and June's Mega Stone began to shine with a bright pink light, engulfing the Lopunny's body. Just as she started changing form, Berry leapt up into the center of the asteroid belt as Masha released a massive fireball. It looked, just for a moment, like the fireball would char Berry to cinders and do the same to the coordinator below- but instead, the gravity of the asteroid belt held it firmly in place, a blazing ball of gas surrounded by rocks. Berry soared up into the middle of the flames, her Mega Evolution giving them a hot pink glow. "Now, Berry! Swift!" In a flash, star-shaped rays tore the miniature sun and its asteroids to shreds, leaving Berry just above a shimmering meteor shower. Masha descended to the stage behind her, preparing for the finale. "Let's finish with a bang! Masha, Giga Impact, and Berry, Drain Punch!" Onstage, Masha became cloaked in a purple-white light, while Berry, still airborne, surrounded her ears in the glittering energy that would sap Masha's strength (not too much, but enough to make an impact for the audience to see). Masha barreled skyward, while Berry fell in a corkscrew motion. They collided (or seemed to) in midair, the energy from both their attacks spiraling outward like a helix galaxy- -but neither of them fell to the ground from the force. Masha continued his ascent, but with a new passenger. When they collided, Berry had been using her arms and legs to grab onto and mount Masha! They rocketed upward together, Berry's ears trailing residual energy from the Drain Punch, Masha still shrouded in light from the Giga Impact. Eventually, they pulled out and circled down gently, speeding over the audience as they did and leaving a trail of shining white light like a comet. Berry dismounted Masha, neither of them looking much worse for wear- Berry's Cosmic Power had shielded her, and Masha was bulky enough that the Drain Punch hadn't fazed him. Standing side by side, June and her Pokemon took an exaggerated bow, and strode off the stage. For a theme that wasn't her specialty, June thought she'd done alright. @auroracup

June tosses Croissant’s Heal Ball up in the air, catching it with a flourish. 

“Name’s Shiori, right? Good to meet you! Let’s have a nice clean fight, okay?”

Backstage, Shiori got her scores, and healed her espeon while they waited for the final announcement.

“You did wonderful, Magi. I’m so proud of you,”She praised, petting her now revived pokemon.

“Why’d I have to get the smart appeal... it would have been easier to do something involved with beauty...” Rin groaned, Cloyster also seemed distressed. After all, they had counted getting landed with a beauty appeal- but never thought about the others..
