Shining Down, May 2024

Disclaimer: while this is not my photo, it was taken by a relative of mine (my own photos of that night are still being processed and this was a phone photo).

Nonetheless I choose to post this because (a) it's a great photo, (b) it's London, (c) it conveys what I want to say below.

It feels thematically more like Christmas (and indeed an alternative title I was going to give it was Christmas In May), but with the illumination of the tree and the lines of the aurora, it feels like a divine light shining down on the scene, which is appropriate to post today, because Happy Easter!

Oddly enough, when I was younger, I used to have the mistaken idea that Christmas was the more important Christian holiday, just like I used to think that Eid al-Fitr was more important to Muslims (it's Eid al-Adha).

But I'd like to think this photo has a message of hope in it somewhere, and I need hope. I hope this gives some hope to anyone else who needs it.
