He's the son of the floral goddess and the Heavenly Emperor, but he didn't grow up in the sky kingdom.
Was raised by his mom and her fairies.
Tai is also an immortal, the son of Ben's stepmother and is the pupil of the god in charge of the mortals' fates (mama doesn't like it tho, she has other plans for him).
Everyone expected them to be rivals but when they met they were like 'oh no he's hot' so they became friends.
Anyways, Ben has to go through a mortal trial to reach the high god status, so a mortal fate is written for him.
Tai sees he'll be kinda miserable, and also suspects his mom is planning something, so he inserts himself in Ben's fate and goes with him to the mortal realm, he’s the only one who believes in him like we saw in TROKR and talks about being bonded but it's not The Force™ they're literally fated.
Ren was actually supposed to be Ben's love trial, but since Tai messed up shit... (he's baby tho).
Then, enters ben's daddy's wife and Tai's mommy, the Heavenly Empress who hates Ben, and wants to fuck him up to put her son in the throne (Tai is not related to the Emperor, but mommy thinks having her clan backing her up will be enough so).
She had a certain fairy under her service that was punished and sent to the mortal world to reincarnate as penance, so she uses her to be Ben's love trial and make sure he fails (aka you know where is this going)
Anyways... Tai tried to take Ren’s place to help Ben with the part of his love trial, but his mom made her move so that didn’t work.
Long story short, Ben's mortal trial was supposed to last 60 years, so he kinda failed.
Ben’s momma (I’m gonna say it she’s not leia in any way, she’s a goddess, leia is just a mortal and only related to Ben’s reincarnation not his immortal self) suspects foul play, so her fairies take the form of butterflies to check on Benny boy constantly.
When his mortal reincarnation dies, Ben returns and remembers everything that happened during his trial.
He knows Tai went there for him, but it’s scared to assume what it means (dumb boy) so he avoids him.
Ben checks on Rey because he suspects the Empress used her and wants to know the truth, but Tai thinks it’s bc he still has feelings from his mortal life (he doesn’t and it kinda doesn’t matter because she’s still punished and will keep reincarnating as mortal)

Tai's mom keeps fucking shit up and manages to separate them.
They spend a few thousands of years pining for each other.
They see each other again now as adversaries (they look like they haven't slept in centuries and are crying when this happens btw)
