Well this isn't where they get the sea salt from but if you had stood on this windy beach for 20 minutes then licked your arm, the taste is much the same. If you have hairy arms then you should lick someone else's arm like I did. This particular behaviour is actually an Australian thing that was introduced soon after they brought over rats, possums and gorse bushes.
