😢💔 I know that with this horrible fire, there will come a beautiful regrowth. I know that some of our native plants need fire in order to have that regrowth. But that doesn't make these images any easier to deal with. The beautiful Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island. My heart aches. My soul weeps. Not just for the land, but for all the animals that called this home. They're saying this fire will still be burning and having flare ups for weeks to come. The scariest part is - there isn't much left of KI to burn. Almost half of the island has burnt already (over 216,000 hectares). Keep those spells/prayers/dances for rain coming. These fires are absolutely heartbreaking. It's now estimated that about 1.25 billion animals have died. 26 people are dead. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed. Over eight million hectares of land has been destroyed across Australia. Over 200,000 hectares of that is on Kangaroo Island (second picture). And my beautiful country is still burning. We need more rain. Desperately.
