First AUSLAN (Australian sign language) class just done and I think I'm in love with the language. Seeing sign language in a way that makes sense to me means that the hand gestures/symbols are like full Hanzi (Chinese characters to me) and the alphabet is supplementary Pinyin, used to spell out things like names, proper nouns or perhaps words that one wouldn't know the corresponding symbol/gesture This one of the first phrases I learnt.
