hey lovelies!! ✧ welcome to another glowettee hotline ✧
oh my goodness, i completely understand these conflicting feelings you're experiencing!! the push and pull between wanting a relationship while also feeling hesitant about the intentions of potential partners is something so many of us go through (yes, me too!).
first things first, i want to validate that both sides of your feelings are completely normal and valid. wanting connection is a natural human desire, but being protective of your heart and wanting to be valued for who you are beyond your appearance? that's not just valid - it's essential self-respect.
let's break this down a bit:
feeling bad about not having a partner this is such a common feeling, especially when it might seem like everyone around you is coupling up! society puts so much emphasis on romantic relationships as milestones of success or happiness. but here's the thing you need to know; relationships aren't achievements to unlock; they're experiences to share when the right connection comes along.
wanting to be valued for who you are this is where your intuition is absolutely spot on!! you deserve someone who appreciates the fullness of who you are - your thoughts, dreams, values, quirks, and yes, your appearance too (but not just that!). being wary of people who only seem interested in your looks isn't being paranoid - it's having healthy boundaries.
so what can you do with these conflicting feelings? here are some thoughts:
✧ invest in yourself first use this time to really get to know yourself - what you love, what makes you feel fulfilled, what your non-negotiables are in relationships. the more grounded you are in yourself, the easier it becomes to recognize when someone appreciates the real you.
✧ notice the quality of attention there's a difference between someone who compliments your appearance and moves on versus someone who asks questions about your thoughts, remembers details about your interests, and makes an effort to understand your world. learn to recognize this difference!
✧ practice being authentic sometimes we unconsciously hide parts of ourselves when we're hoping someone will like us. try being fullyyy yourself from the beginning - it naturally filters out people who are only interested in surface-level connections.
✧ expand your social circles sometimes finding meaningful connections happens when we're not actively looking! join groups or activities based on your interests, where you'll meet people who already share something meaningful with you.
✧ trust your instincts if someone makes you feel like they're only interested in your appearance, listen to that feeling. you don't need concrete "proof" to trust your gut.
✧ remember that timing matters some of the most beautiful relationships happen when we weren't expecting them, when both people have grown into themselves enough to truly see and appreciate another person.
it's also worth noting that being selective doesn't mean being closed off! you can be open to connections while still maintaining your standards about how you deserve to be treated and appreciated.
the reality is that yes, some people might initially notice you for your appearance - that's often how initial attraction works! but the right person will stay for all the other amazing parts of you that make you uniquely you.
you're not going crazy at all - you're navigating one of life's most complex territories with thoughtfulness and self-awareness, which honestly puts you ahead of so many people! there's no rush to figure this all out immediately. meaningful connections often take time to develop, and it's okay to take your time finding someone who appreciates the full spectrum of who you are.
sending you clarity and confidence!! you're doing just fine, i promise.

actually i upset myself because it’s likely that kishi is the longest living (human) devil hunter that public safety even has, he even says that it’s “a one year job [ . . . ] and in a year you'll be dead or in the civilian world. there's nothing like aging in this job.”
and this fact, coupled with how many recruits die in the time he’s had them under his wing, pushes him harder towards the abuse of alcohol. "so I told my superiors to put an unbreakable toy under me, neither human nor dog. [ . . . ] i'm going to drink more because the person i feel for is going to die. if that's the case, it's better to have someone you can't have feelings for."
i can imagine these events largely impacted the relationships (or lack thereof) that he chooses to make and pursue, along with the strong feelings he’d held for quanxi for almost a decade. at least with quanxi, he doesn’t have to worry about her dying. doesn’t have to worry about one day mourning her, because he trusts her to take care of herself.
anyone else, human or otherwise, just doesn’t cut it for him. he doesn’t want to make those relationships because he doesn’t want to mourn them in their inevitable demise, if they don’t already go private or quit. it’d even got to a point where they agreed not to put any other recruit under him because of this- at least until they introduce denji and power. excited as he was to finally have ‘toys’ under him that would not break, he still ended up harboring some affection towards the two. he may mourn them, and he’s not happy about it.
so it would be a fair assumption to make that the friends / connections he’s made during the beginning of his devil hunting career have all either died or went back to being a civilian. a large majority of people he had known do not exist any more.
at this point, he’d sooner keep them all at an arm’s length than risk caring for someone else who’s only going to die.
Avoid those who believe they are stronger than you, because they are actually concealing their own fragility. Stay close to those who are not afraid to be vulnerable, because they have confidence in themselves and know that, at some point in our lives, we all stumble; they do not interpret this as a sign of weakness, but of humanity. Avoid those who seek friends in order to maintain a certain social status or to open doors they would not otherwise be able to approach. Stay close to those who are interested in opening only one important door: the door to your heart. They will never invade your soul without your consent or shoot a deadly arrow through that open door. Friendship is like a river; it flows around rocks, adapts itself to valleys and mountains, occasionally turns into a pool until the hollow in the ground is full and it can continue on its way. Just as the river never forgets that its goal is the sea, so friendship never forgets that its only reason for existing is to love other people

Dating Through a Screen
The dating scene feels unreasonable sometimes. There is this strange expectation that you should be witty, charming, and unforgettable in a single opening message. As if one “hi” can determine whether a person is interesting, kind, deep, or worth knowing. It feels absurd. Even unfair. Matching with someone is not a performance. It is not a final verdict on who we are. Yet dating platforms often…
