You peered over the counter at the man who'd been snapping pictures of one of your latest displays for nearly five minutes, watching him curiously as he took a shot of every possible angle.
He finally finished his mysterious photoshoot, grabbing a book that he'd picked up near the front of the store and heading towards the counter, pointedly avoiding grabbing one of the books he'd just stared at for five minutes straight.
He smiled warmly at you as he stepped up to your counter, offering a soft, 'Hello,' as he set his book on the wood, his camera hanging from his neck and bouncing slightly against his chest as he moved.
"Hello," You returned his smile, peering at the price written on the book's sticker, "I'm surprised you didn't grab one of those."
You gestured vaguely to the display he'd been admiring, and he chuckled sheepishly, "Well, I've already got enough copies."
You cocked your head to the side in a gesture of silent confusion, and you noticed his cheeks flush as he added, "I'm the author."
You froze for a moment, eyes widening as his book hung limply in your hands. You finally managed to get yourself together, an incredulous laugh escaping your lips, "Wait, you wrote that?!"
"I did," He smiled, handing you cash for his book and glancing down at the counter sheepishly instead of returning your eye contact, "It's weird to see my name in print."
"That's amazing," You gushed, "I'll have to read it!"
He only blushed harder at your words, "I hope you'll enjoy it."
"I'm sure I will," You grinned jovially at him, slipping the book he'd bought into a paper bag and handing it to him over the counter, "If you come back sometime soon I'll let you know what I think!"
"I'll be eagerly awaiting your review," He grinned, his eyes shining in the warm lights of the bookshop, "And if you really like it, I'll sign it for you."
"Perfect," You waved at him as he made his way to the door, "I'll start it tonight!"
