ive never seen a full episode of naruto in my life but i swear that sasuke guy is autistic, he just is i dont make the rules

some autistic sasuke headcanons:

part 1 sasuke always kept his hands in his pockets to "quiet" them. that disappears by part 2, since he's away from konoha and can stim all he wants.

he has food sensory issues! which is why he dislikes natto, especially its texture.

avoids eating sugary foods because he fears he likes them too much

struggles with disordered eating, sometimes to the point of orthorexia

doesn't understand (or care to understand) social norms about language and respect. what do you mean i have to call this weirdo my sensei?

he's terrible with remembering names. it really isn't personal or malicious.

his special interests tend to burn bright but short. one week he's constantly telling the entire family facts about dinosaurs, and the next he's devouring books about idk basket weaving. however, one special interest that does persist throughout the years is his fascination with poetry.

usually hyperempathetic, sometimes has empathy fatigue

absolutely despises the feeling of skin-tight clothes

he hates, hates, hates being touched without permission.

wakes up in the middle of the night a lot. he's the exact opposite of a morning person.

even though he changes his outfits often, he likes to stick to the same color scheme and style.

Selectively mute sasuke who communicates exclusively via sign language

!! ABsolutely!!! 

-Sasuke has been almost entirely mute since the massacare. He went mute before that too, but he really hasn’t spoken since

-everyone at school thought it was just him being an asshole and ignoring him. And it was! to be fair! but also even if it wasn’t he couldn’t have said anything

-Kakashi, who was also semi-selectively mute for a few years, makes it a top priotity to teach the team Konoha Sign, and the rules of rotating signs so that other villages can’t interpret it. Sakura takes to it like a fish to water, half desprate to comunicate with Sasuke and half desprate to be allowed to do something with her hands. 

-Naruto’s like ‘why can’t he just? talk? Like I didn’t think someone so smart would be too dumb to talk’ because he doesn’t know anything about anything but then he sees how upset everyone is with that and then Sasuke doesn’t look at him for a week and Kakashi kind-of-explains and he doesn’t bring it up again, but he tries really hard to learn sign as an aplogy.

-Naruto never quite gets the hang of sign, but it’s mostly made up for by his uncanny ability to just read Sasuke’s body language to get his mood or his message or whatever, even when Sasuke isn’t trying to say anything

-Sasuke is mostly mute, with one glaring exception; he vocally stims a lot by humming and clicking his tongue and stuff, but only when he feels safe and relaxed and trusts the people around him. Team 7 gets really confused when it starts happening, and he gets sorta nervous but explains it, and then gets tackle-hugged and purrs and then winces because it makes his idiot teammates squeal

-out of the Konoha-12, only HInata understands sign (Hanabi goes mute on really bad weeks), and tries to act as a translater (cause team 7 kinda just got in the habit of communicating via sign and they’ll be damned if they ever explain themselves, much less notice they’re doing something odd or confusing) but she stutters too much and she’s too quiet and straight up refuses to repeat some things because they’re rude (all three of them are like. fundementally kind but also assholes don’t lie) and she doesn’t want to say them, so she isn’t the most effective, but she tried.

-Team 7 being known as the unhinged silent team, which is somehow scarier then the unhinged obnoxious team. It gives the unsettling (if inaccurate) impression that they actually have their shit together

Autistic Sasuke Uchiha Headcanon

I have been watching a bit of Boruto Next Gen and Sasuke just screams autistic to me. I have not seen all of Shippuden nor Boruto, just clips on YouTube I can find But before you go all, "He was a freaking ball of anger and hatred for X years!" at me, hear me out.

When he was a child, he had Itachi and his parents. He was at his most relaxed then. He displayed a few traits, but his family was able to support him. It's possible for traits to worsen after childhood especially since he didn't get a lot of support since a young ago.

He became such a ball of anger and hatred after the Massacre, he didn't mind not being able to socially connect. He was angry and the only way he could handle it was by isolation to shutdown. His anger was actual anger but also meltdowns due to communication issues, Naruto and Sakura grating on his senses, having a lot of negative racing thoughts, etc. Sasuke also does a very Autistic thing where his feelings and emotions barely, if ever, show on his face or body language.

With Orochimaru, he can be alone most of the time which he is fine with. He is super smart. He can a battle really easily due to being able to see little things. Naruto managed to get really good at reading Sasuke's body language (emotions and battle planning are very different) and that is why they make such s good team. Sasuke's emotions at times can override any control he has in a situation, like Itachi in yhe hotel and Naruto on the roof.

There's more, but I wanna move onto Next Gen. Sasuke is... distant. He doesn't mean to be, but without his anger, he doesn't really have much else. He clearly loves Sakura and Sarada, but he has no idea how to show it. He takes things Kakashi says literally and thinks they are true. He is really only comfortable tapping Sarada on the forehead like Itachi used to do for affection. He avoids a lot of eye contact. His voice is very monotone. And he seems to not like touch. It's like once his anger and vengeance no longer had a meaning to him, all his autistic traits came back and turned him into a blank slate.

It's not a complete list. I plan on writing more on Autistic Sasuke. I also know that the poor guy also has (C)PTSD as well, but I'm just focusing on Autistic headcanons because we practically have confirmed canon for his trauma

The only thing anyone is not allowed to do is say I am not allowed to have an Autistic Sasuke headcanon. If you want to add on go my headcanon, feel free!

Random Autistic Sasuke h/c, just for you kind annon with rights: Sasuke with the Sharringan has too much power. Not because of all the broken shit that comes with the Sharringan, but because whenever someone (is making a face/speaking in a way/basically any non-verbal/non-direct communications that confuse him) he just. Flashes his magic eyes that give him perfect memory and ability to mirror it and then goes to Sakura (she has flashcards about this shit) and recreates it and lets her decipher it for him. He’s unstoppable.
