if you guys ever wanna talk abt that kinda shit. *seductive pose* -mig
it's not like there's much to say except that i'm one of those ">:| nothing beyond atoms and neurons >:|" types?? sorta ironic given my interest in criticizing Science As She Is Done. i've just never experienced anything that has changed our mind?
was raised atheist too. :V our mom's part of some hippie religion that meditates a lot and appropriates a lot from various Eastern religions, part of which is that you don't push your religion on kids. our dad is militant Dawkins grade-A Anti-theist. we used to be much less religion-friendly, hahah
we chill with Unitarians a lot and i often describe myself as "secular humanist" a lot, but that's less a religion as it is a particular morality. our "religious awakening" was reading a shit ton of Kurt Vonnegut. and I think it's just sorta a thing for atheists to sometimes to feel like "man, wouldn't it be nicer if we believed that there was a spiritual entity out there looking out for us?" (it comes up in Vonnegut's writings every so often)
i also know it's one thing that has kept Thomas from calling himself "otherkin". there's such an assumption of spirituality, although imo that assumption has been going away these days, which is nice. also every so often a singlet says that they accept multiplicity "as a spirituality" which no stop
whoa why did this post become "talk about Ace's (and Thomas'--it's basically the same) history with spirituality" what. and obviously Serpent has got his own thing going on.
