Oriana “Ori” Lawson and Bats T’Lori

These lovely Mass Effect characters are the OCs of the equally lovely @autodiscothings​, who I’ve followed and admired for years. You might remember that I did a portrait of Ori a while back, just as a show of appreciation for soignee’s art, and I was so happy to be officially commissioned to draw both of them. My sorry ass had to google makeup looks for hours because I know nothing and I didn’t want to screw it up, given how delightfully fashionable Ori is. I’m happy with how they turned out!

And for the backstory, because come on, it’s me we’re talking about, Ori is putting on earrings that Kolyat commissioned for her, shaped like the planet on which the first colony she successfully funded is established, and she’s getting ready to go to the party that celebrates her success.

As for Bats, there isn’t a specific story behind it, but I had fun imagining that the sort of freckles he has on his cheeks are constellations, since it fits well with the Mass Effect theme haha.

💋 Who is the best kisser, for the first pairing that comes into your head when you think ‘good kiss,’ please!

So it was a toss between Reagan and Coats but then this happen:

Ashley runs her nails along John’s chest while taking in a deep breath. She’s never been a morning person, even with all the discipline of a marine, it sometimes took her a very long time to crawl into bed. Gratefully, she doesn’t have to anymore now the then impending end of the world wasn’t at their door. A new life is beginning for her. She now looks forward to waking up in the morning, waking up next to her husband and looking forward to the few moments of snuggling - as newlyweds.

She watches as John’s eyes start to flutter open and his lips curve slightly upwards, he takes a deep inhale of breath through his nose and a content sigh escapes his lips as he exhales through his mouth. This is what she loves so much, he no longer wakes up stressed, no crunching of the eyebrows, no more rushing out of bed to start the day and get into the thick of it all. It’s just.. them.

She closes her eyes and nozzles deeper into the crook of his neck, her lips curled into a smile as she feels his lips trail along her temple, then a kiss on the bridge of her nose. The baby flutters in response, almost like it knows and it makes her giggle.

“What?” He chuckles against her cheek.

His breath tickles her a little bit, she shakes her head to scratch the hits and manages to rub her nose against his. His lips meet hers, the softness as his lips part hers and his tongue slides in her mouth, twirling along with hers as she gratefully accepts his touch. A content moan escapes her mouth as she reaches her arms up to wrap them around his neck, bringing him closer to her. She gently scratches the back of John’s head with her nails while his fingers laces through her hair and he cards through it, knowing very well she likes it when he plays with her hair.

She pulls away slightly, keeping her forehead against his. “Baby’s kicking, wishing daddy a good morning.” Her voice is raspy as she catches her breath, her lips move against his and he ghostses another kiss, before moving to her jaw. He lowers himself, placing his head against her belly and giving it a gentle kiss.

“Morning to you baby.”

Looks like it's John and Ashley. 😄

😭 and 😳 for the meme, oh and 😊 !!

So I reblogged this meme on a Thursday morning this week and went, “Surely I will at some point have a single moment during the day to respond to these!” I was wrong. Anyways thank you for asking this! Let’s get down to it 😭 -- an idea i attempted but had to abandon. So at one point I really, really wanted to do one illustration per mission of Zombies, Run! Season Eight (that fitness app I never hush up about). I got about three and a half illustrations in and got promptly walloped with work, and have thus far been unable to finish it. It’s now become a goal for next year!

😳 -- a piece that turned out better than i was expecting I’m really, really fond of this one painting I did of Ren in the ocean. I went into it with NO planning, and no undersketch at all

😊 -- a piece i’m really proud of and why I’m pretty happy with this drawing I did as a commission for @whirly-wind -- it’s one of my favorite portraits I’ve done recently and I was really happy with the style I used

Erukal?? for the WIP game

Thanks for the ask!

Erukal is why I haven’t been writing the things I should be writing the past week or so.  Sometimes new ideas just seize you by the shoulders and make you pay attention.  :P

Erukal is my orc mage in World of Warcraft. He’s on the older side for an orc.  He was changed by the demonic Legion’s hold over his people; he fought in the First War, which was the orc invasion of Azeroth, and the Second War that followed it.  He spent years in an internment camp when the humans and their allies were ultimately victorious.  While there, he met his partner, who he stayed with for nearly twenty years, until his recent death due to a prolonged illness.  They sought out a healer who said it was beyond her knowledge; rather than squandering his final months searching for a cure, he chose to die peacefully.  After a life largely directed by unnatural events, he preferred to let go with grace. 

After the liberation of the camps, they traveled through the areas where orcs were more-or-less welcome, and eventually settled in the Barrens, where they raised riding wolves along with keeping up a small homestead.  His partner had a special affection for barn cats that he adamantly denied, and so their home became a haven for them as well.  Erukal still has the last of them, a tomcat named Doomclaw (in the best of orc tradition, of course).

Once his partner passed, he decided he didn’t want to live there anymore, so he gave him a proper burial and sold the place.  In my timeline, he’s in the “Draenor” expansion era, which provides an opportunity to go back in time to the place where he was born, before it wall went terribly wrong, for the low, low price of rejoining the army.  But things have changed quite a lot, and he decides it could be exactly the right kind of different from his current life. 

He hid his magic ability for most of his youth, because he was afraid of being forced into more direct service to the Legion as a warlock if they were discovered, so he knows his way around an axe.  Most of his magic ability is self-taught and geared towards the necessities of his fairly average post-war life.  So great at conjuring food and safeguarding falls off roofs, and less so with flinging ice bolts.  He’s less cautious about defending it now that demonic servitude is no longer a risk, and ends up being sent for proper training. 

Right now he’s in the middle of trying to reconcile the things his clan did that led to the wars, and the fact that they’re still actively supporting the side of evil, while fighting to stop a madman who wants to destroy both timelines.

10. Are you confident about your art?

Sometimes. It depends on external validation A LOT though, but I think now I’m more confident comparing to teenage me.

26. For digital artists: what program(s) do you use?

Adobe Photoshop CS5 because I clearly hate myself and love suffering.

30. What inspires you to not just make art, but to be a better artist?
