I just thought about something.

You know, when Ivan paints his autoportrait, he says that he has 3 eyes. And on one of these eyes, there are liitle red shapes which represents us fans according to what said someone here (i sadly don't remember who).

So, Ivan use his two eyes in every day life but with the third, he sees (or hallucinate) us. It explains why he broke the fourth wall
