My Light In the Darkness(A Commission from Autumn Melody)(http://www.furaffinity.net/user/autumnmelody/)
I recently commissioned a pic of my fursona Luna and Raichel Voltor, a Raichu Hybrid(Pokemon morph) and my real life dream girl. Included is a little story that,,, well, it wasn’t on my mind when I first commissioned the piece, but after some pretty rough times, it was something I needed to write.

Do you ever have one of those days where it seems like nobody’s listening or paying any attention to you? That despite anything you do, no matter how awesome you are, everyone just seems to ignore you? Well, I have those days a lot. And while I suppose the alternative of letting my true wolf demigoddess nature show through to the world would give me a bit too much attention, being almost completely ignored sucks pretty hard too.
With a sigh almost as heavy as my heart, I made my way upstairs to my room. Working retail can be rough to begin with, but when the customers actively ignore your instructions designed to make things easier, it gets a lot worse. My requests for back up went unanswered by anyone, and even my friends I was planning to hang out with after bailed on me for one reason or another. And it wasn’t like there was anyone waiting for me at home, since I work way too long and for too little money to make any kind of relationship viable.
Seriously, life sucks. Maybe I should just crawl into my bed and end this crappy day, so I can be well rested for the almost certainly worse one tomorrow. My cold, empty bed….
“Hi, Luna.”
… empty except for the literal dream girl lying on it!
“R-Rai?” I stammered, somehow resisting the urge to faint at the sight of the Raichu Hybrid lying atop it. She smiled as I slowly climbed onto the bed. “Y-You’re here? But you don’t exist… I-I mean, you’re not real; you only exist in my head…”
Raichel Voltor, or Rai for short, smiled as my paws slowly slid around her, trying to determine how real my first original character I created over 15 years ago when I first started writing was. Despite all my divine powers and abilities, I always felt weird about the idea about trying to bring her to life in any way beyond my writing skills. Still, here she was now, in my arms. My first character, my first crush, my first love, right here…
“Yes, Luna, I’m here.” Rai leaned back a little to look up at me as I held her tightly.
“The details of how and why are complicated; all you need to know is that I’m here because you needed me here tonight. You needed someone to remind you that you are special, and that someone out there always cares about you, even when you can’t see it. The world sucks sometimes-”
“SOME times?” I asked with a raised eyebrow and sarcasm practically dripping from my voice.
“…O.K; a lot of times.” Rai conceded. “But you need to participate in it. It hurts, and it sucks, but things will happen that will make it worthwhile. It can be so hard to see the good times through all the of the bad, but they’re out there.”
“You’ve been going through a lot. Lots of personal and professional turmoil, doubts about your abilities to write anymore, and just generally feeling like you’re failing at life.” I nodded grimly at her assessment. “But you need to keep trying. I want you to keep trying. Write more. Expand your social network, and I’m not just talking about your friend lists on social media. Find someone special, someone who loves you as much as I do. Do that, for you, and for me.”
She didn’t say it, but I could read between the lines. She wasn’t going to be able to stay. She couldn’t, of course; this wasn’t her world. Soon, she’d go back to just existing in my head. I blinked back tears, already missing her even as I held her in my arms. A part of me wanted to beg, plead, do whatever it took to keep her here… and another part of me knew she was ultimately right. The only way I could truly fail was to stop trying. Nothing would change if I did nothing. As much as it sucked, as much as it hurt sometimes, I had to keep at it. I had to keep going at this thing called life. Not only would I be letting myself down if I gave up, I’d be letting her down, too.
“Looks like you understand.” Rai reached up and wiped away the tears forming in the corners of my eyes. “And yes, I can’t stay forever. First thing in the morning, I’ll be gone. But that’s several hours from now.”
Rai pressed herself into me, her chest pressing against my own as she smiled up at me. I blushed a little as I stared into her beautiful brown eyes, feeling her hand slowly stroking through my hair.
“In the meantime, snuggle me, you big, beautiful wolfess.”
