Ryland Grace: Into the COI-Verse
Picture this; the Eridans are attempting some teleportation/traveling device and Grace somehow accident ends up in Simon’s universe.
The COI are super distrusting of this guy who just appeared one day in one of their labs, but once they realize how smart Grace actually is they give him access to roam the laboratories.
Ava makes a deal with Grace that if he helps them, they’ll give the materials for him to try and find a way back home.
Now, Grace happens to appear just a few days before Simon was going to go into the sub, but when the day they brought Simon out actually happened, Grace snapped.
He spent a solid fifteen minutes arguing with Ava and the guards with Simon, shouting how unsafe and dangerous the submarine was and how inhumane the whole thing was.
Ava tries to explain that Simon’s a convict but all Grace does is shout, “Ever heard of no cruel or unusual punishments?!”
Eventually Grace threatens to stop helping the COI’s food and water situation in entirety if they hurt Simon and demands they hear his story out.
Simon’s never had anyone stand up for him before, let alone someone who actually seemed to care about him. Eventually Simon gets his story out and Grace manages to get Ava to declare him a free man.
Simon is now fully and undoubtedly in love with this man.
Some weeks later, the COI begins to realize that the closer Grace is to discovering how to get home, the closer they are to losing their best resource. They can’t just lock him up and demand he stop trying to get home, Grace has already made it clear he’s willing to tamper or simply stop helping them the moment they step out of line.
So they need a different method, a way to convince Grace to stay in this universe.
It just so happens that Ava notices the light blushes and longing stares the scientist gives Simon.
Simon now has a new mission, seduce the nerdy scientist into staying in this universe.

Ava: we need you to befriend Grace—
Simon: Seduce him? Alright, I’ll do it.
Ava: …I said befriend,
Simon, already taking off his shirt: yeah I heard you, seduce him. I got it
Ava, sighing: just keep him here

COI Guard #1: are we really going to let an ex-convict attempt to seduce a scientist? There’s no way a man like Grace would fall for that—
COI Guard #2: they’re already making out in one of the labs
COI Guard #1: I stand corrected,

Grace: hi, Simon! Want to help me with the—
Simon, clutching onto Grace: marry me
Grace, blushing: okay
Ava, watching through cameras: those two morons were made for each other
