After spending eight years in college, three interning, and another eight climbing the corporate ladder, Y/N was the youngest female in her firm’s history to have a solid win streak. She spent her entire adult life working her ass off to be the best. She climbed the corporate ladder, stomping on anyone she had to along the way, because once she was at the top all of the bullshit would be over, her colleagues would respect her, and she would be happy… right?

 After the biggest meeting of her career, Y/N went for a drink and met him. Dean Winchester, the handsome bartender at The Shop, who managed to say all of the right things to soften her hard shell. Was it possible that Y/N was wrong all of this time? Had she spent the better part of 2 decades focusing on her career when there was one man in a city of 18 million that could make her feel more alive than any job ever could? After a millennia of keeping humanity at a distance, the angel Castiel finds himself looking into the eyes of Dean Winchester, a firefighter that carries pain like a badge of honor, who looks right back at Castiel like he’s a man and not an angel. For the first time he begins to wonder what it would be like to be loved, to be human.

How can the two men bridge the gap between their two worlds without losing something in the process? Can Castiel risk everything to fall and rebel from heaven for just a taste of Dean, just to feel his breath on Castiel’s lips? Can Dean allow Castiel to give up everything for him? Or is any of it even up to them in the first place?

Doctor Castiel Novak wasn’t normal. The most human interaction he received was with the cadavers that came across his table, just reduced to numbers and cause of death. It was easier that way. Corpses don’t ask questions, require eye contact, or judge. They just lie there, or at least they’re supposed to.

When a body disappears from his lab, Castiel begins to question everything he knows to be true. Working alongside rookie detective Dean Winchester he finds himself falling deeper into the divots of his own mind as the pieces of the case come together. As Castiel questions his own sanity, he finds that the beautiful green eyed detective may be his only light in the darkness, and his only escape from himself.
