His shirt may not be the best of fits but my youngest did his first ever @aberdarevalleyaac session last night. Coped really well and most importantly he enjoyed it! He put in a good few laps, nice and consistent, no walking. Top effort! He'll only get stronger from here! Took the kids out for a run yesterday, with varying degrees of enthusiasm. Youngest can run for longer but the oldest is the quicker sprinter when she tries... Think they both almost enjoyed it and I do think it's vital for kids to be active. Well I moaned about not doing any speed training last post, so I thought I'd try and do something about it. On my own. In a oark with people watching me, thinking I'm deranged or something. Good grief that was tough. Ripping off a #avaac session, I did 40 mins of 600m (ish - 3/4 of #cyfarthapark lake) followed by 200m (ish - the rest of the lake) very easy. Wasn't too bad, managing around 5.3 miles but good god was I tired after. My cool down jog may as well have been a crawl. Also I made 2 mistakes, firstly not leaving quite enough time after eating. Secondly wearing last years #cardiffhalf shirt which is very... snug and makes me look even more like a whale than normal. Happy boy last night. My youngest ran the junior race of the Brecon 3 mile series last night. He worked really hard and finished in 12:46, 3 mins-ish quicker than last year. Not too bad for 1.5 miles at 6! It's great to see him so enthusiastic to run and he's itching to join a club and get a vest on. Just a bit young yet though.
