↳ INTRODUCE YOURSELF, CALEB NICOLS

✌ SECRET: Last year, I was paid to take someone's SATs for them.

↳ ONCE UPON A TIME, A FEW MISTAKES AGO

An academically gifted teenager who lacks common sense at times, Caleb Nicols is probably the smartest child in the Oakview High School senior class – and arguably the most intelligent in all of Oakview itself. However, upon meeting or even casual conversation, you likely won’t even be able to guess this. Caleb usually isn’t the type to go on and start spouting long words that no one knows the meaning of or even use mathematical equations in everyday conversation, though he’s sure that that is exactly what half the student body expects him to do. Some already see Caleb as a social pariah, and he is completely and fully aware of it, which is why he usually doesn’t make his intelligence level obvious unless he’s in class and it’s absolutely necessary, if he’s extremely close to you and doesn’t mind showing that side, or if he’s nervous and starts babbling on and on. Like many other teenagers, Caleb is ever so concerned with what others think of him. He, like everyone else, wants to fit in, wants to be a part of the cool crowd. It isn’t his main drive or motivation in life, but it’s certainly a large factor in it all – and that is probably what drove him to do the thing that he is now most ashamed of.

↳ GOT A SECRET, CAN YOU KEEP IT?

When you want someone to help you with homework, you go to Caleb. When you want to cheat on a test, you go to Caleb. And, apparently, if you want a good grade on the SATs, you go to Caleb. After a previous junior asked Caleb for help on his SATs, he thought that he would just help the kid study or something. Even though he was only a sophomore at the time, he knew a lot more than the average junior. Caleb should have realized something was up when the kid never contacted him for an SAT tutoring session, but he simply just assumed that he had found someone else. Imagine Caleb’s surprise when the kid showed up with a bundle of money that added up to two hundred dollars and begging him to take his SATs for him. Well, what could Caleb do? He agreed, and went to the testing session with a fake ID that the kid had made for him. It was strange, because if he had spent as much effort studying for the SATs as he did making it believable that Caleb was actually him, he would have passed with flying colors. Caleb ended scoring a 2360 on the test, allowing the kid to get into Yale, but the guilt is still eating him alive. Even worse – what if they find out? Then no college will want him, and he’ll be stuck in Oakview for the rest of his life.
