i have two budgies and when i'm in the same room as them, they just make their normal happy budgie noises. but when i leave the room, they kinda yell at each other more. am i being too paranoid or is there a problem?
This could be a form of separation issues. When you leave the room - they are calling for you to come back. I’d suggest you leave them by walking from their cages and not yet leaving the room - if they keep their happy noises then reward them.After this leave their sight for a short period (5 seconds) before they start making the loud noises and reward.If they happen to make the loud noises when you leave wait until they’re quite then re-enter the room.Then make the sessions longer and longer gradually.It is hard to pin point the issues to just that one problem - they could be calling for each other but the same principles apply;
Reward for happy noises.Of course they can’t make their happy chirps all the time and have permission to be noisey - but if this is happening only when you leave the room it can be fixed with persistent training.Good luck and I’d love to know how things progress!!!
