Chasing Low Inclination. Below 30 Degrees. 

Minimising risk and securing as long time as possible in low danger terrain is very slowly becoming second nature to us. Especially when going up, as we spend more time exposed up than down.

Entering the Off Piste Area. 

The main problem with taking an avalanche course, is that I now realise what a whole lot of stupid shit I’ve done before. In the picture I am standing in front of the gate leading into non-secured terrain in Nuolja. With more knowledge and a different attitude.

Our Own Tracks. 

There are few things as great as painting the mountains with your own tracks. We’re the first ones down the slope on this side of the last snow.

Strange Forms. 

Winter weather can give rise to strange forms. In this case a cool one on a mountain top near Vassijaure. Amazingly strange and beautiful. Pure ice and snow.

Vassijaure.

The day before the avalanched course, I am off with a group from Pure Freeride Camp (who are here by chance) to a peak near Vassijaure. Great fun, and I get to meet a few people I know. It turns out to be a great way to rip muscle fibers. Quite a bit of my build-up for Aconcagua is not here anymore. Sore! Ouch.

Nuolja Views and Cafe. 

The views from Nuolja can be amazing. Having arrived at the train station at 11, a few hundred meters from the lift, I have time for some great runs already on my arrival day. This is a great de-stress activity after a very busy couple of weeks. I really like the cafe at the top; reasonable coffee, home made cakes and a great vegan soup. The views are, as always, absolutely amazing.
