If you don’t understand this film, then you’re hardly worth lying. My mum doesn’t get this at all All my grandad., one because they don’t have really severe mental health PTSD issues everyone I know he’s got this film has had an experience with Viva schizophrenia a personality disorder. Whichever one it is and also psychopathy which is my, i’m severe PTSD. Many ways you can look at this film. I’ve had a ferry that when water is involved because he has a massive fear of it because what happened to his children , with his wife.

Who is bipolar and ended up killing All all of them. So he created this whole fantasy world where he was a different person because he didn’t wanna remember what really happened, there is so many ways you could look at it. It almost made me think of JFK sister the one who is like probably autistic but then they were just said she was schizophrenic. He was like promiscuous she wasn’t. She was a sweetheart and the dad was pretty evil he put her in a mental hospital and didn’t even tell the mom , the Kennedy cast and it’s around the same era of this film

And a lot of these people got experiment on this is why I don’t get why people I understand it is two sides to it like a double edged sword one side like saying if you take their cigarettes if you take their medication if you take their drink then they have you . But another part of it would be Ben Kingsley the actor , letting Leonardo DiCaprio’s character . Being told by different people different truths.. and it starts very early in the film with his other sheriff he really he should’ve met land. Instead of on the boat and obviously has a fear of water cause what happened to his children which is very fucking sad film broke me so many ways.

See what you want about Leonardo he’s very good at making you feel the emotion it comes with a film like that. And then go to the wharf of Wall Street, which is by the same director, with a completely different vibe, so I just think Leo is good at making you betray your emotions, that’s why I’m saying... for the people who don’t get it, they obviously don’t get any anagrams, but people. The people don’t understand it because it is a complex film to some degree but when your head works differently, it’s not like complex.

We know that he went through a war, we know he was in a mental hospital struggling and we know that he was a illest patient there apparently.

why did nobody tell me shutter island was this good

like just Delores’s character (despite probably only constituting a side character) i find interesting in how her actions were so largely a result of Leo’s negligence in getting her help because of course they were because it’s the 50s is just suchhhhh good plot work imo

also the theme track in this movie is just 👌

i watched shutter island. i’m going through a horror and suspense phase if you couldn’t tell. i liked the movie but i’ve seen the ending scene before in clips online, so it wasn’t as revolutionary as i feel like it would’ve been.

So just saw Shutter Island for the first time.... and I have mixed feelings about it.

First off I thought it would be more horror and while they tried some motifs, we never quite got there and that was dissapointing.

Then the weird and bad edit cuts that made it feel like a newbie youtuber was in control, made it hard to draw me in. Like I forgave it in the dream sequences (or the heavy hallucinations), but before you knew he was hallucinating the whole time, they were bad. And by knowing the delusion he created at the end, didn't quite forgive it.

The score: Phenomenal. Not too mention we got Mahler in the soundtrack and that was rad.

The performances were good, but I thought the women did the best. I don't know, that machoism in certain takes doesn't do it for me. Plus the cliff scene was so unbelieveable.

And then there was the twist. I began to suspect things weren't what they seemed when Teddy/Andrew and "Chuck" began freeroaming without much supervision. Because that seems highly not orderly for a mental hospital especially the way they set it up at the beginning. But I didn't see the full picture and I do like the way it unfolded, but the ending just didn't do it for me. Like it was sad if he truly relapsed. And it was poignant if he wasn't slipping back but chose to do it to escape reality, but I dunno. It didn't get me to a place I felt satisfied.

I need to chew on this a bit more. Maybe the book will help. I am curious about it in one of the rare times I decide to check out the book after the movie.

Watched Shutter Island for the first time tonight. Genuinely one of the most visceral experiences I’ve ever had in terms of discomfort, heartache, and raw emotion. And has absolutely beautiful direction/perspective.
