Avarques (in singular, avarca) are the traditional shoes from Menorca (Balearic Islands). For this reason they are also called avarques menorquines.

Even though originally they were worn by peasants, avarques are now very popular summer shoes among everyone in Menorca, the rest of the Catalan Countries, and are sold even abroad.
