Neytiri could feel the warm sand beneath her feet as she walked along the beach. She watched the sun rise over the sea and since it was early in the morning, not many na'vi were awake.

Her ear twitched when she heard some movements in the sea. She quickly turned her head to check if there isn't any "danger" in the water, like some sea animal that the metkayina people had.

But instead of some sea animal she saw you. Eldest daughter of Tonowari and Ronal, young, metkayina girl that was swimming in the water on her ilu. You had few small shells braided in your hair with few thin dreadlocks, the rest of your hair flew freely. But your hair wasn't the first thing that caught her attention, it was your eyes.

Your ocean blue eyes. All the ocean na'vi had blue eyes but yours were different. There was something about them.

"Neytiri." You said while you did the 'i see you' gesture as a greeting. You knew who she was, because you were there when she and others arrived. She caught your eye since she was the only one who didn't want to learn yours clan ways.

She didn't want to be in the sea nor try to learn how to ride an ilu nor diving, nothing. That was the reason why she captured your interest.

"y/n." She said as she did the 'i see you' gesture back. You thought you should be the one teaching her your ways, I mean Tonowari is teaching Jake, Tsireya and Ao'nung are teaching the kids and Ronal is pregnant so she has a lot other responsibilities...

So she's kinda left to you, you thought. You smiled and started talking again. "What are you doing here?" You asked calmly with a small smile on your face as you swam around on the water surface.

Neytiri looked around before answering you. "No practical reason." She answered to you. To be honest she wasn't really sure why she went here. Something told her to come here and just walk around. Some feeling told her.

"Why do I never see you in the water?" You asked another question as you got off of your ilu and stood in the water that reached your waist.

"I have no need to go in the water." Neytiri answered to your question with stoic face. She looked at your ilu for a moment before returning her gaze back at you.

"But you will spend some time here? It's easier to learn our ways then use yours..." You said calmly as you tilted your head at her. Your ilu snuggled into your leg under the water so you stroke it's head while looking at her.

Neytiri narrowed her eyes but after few second went back to her stoic face. "That's right but like I said I have no need to be in the water." She said and her eyes never left yours.

You smirked, rolled your eyes and went out of water to her. After few second you gently took her hand and went back to the sea with her right behind you. Neytiri's legs betrayed her and started walking after you without her even noticing.

There was something fascinating about you, something that made it impossible to look away from you. And there was also the same feeling from the early morning. The one that told her to go here at the first place.

Your ilu swam around the two of you as you walked more deep in the water, that now was touching your cleavage and Neytiri's chest, because of the height difference between you and Neytiri.

"I have something to show you." You said calmly as you sat on your ilu offering her your hand once again. Neytiri hesitated from the start but gave in and sat behind you on your ilu.

She placed her hands on your waist and hold tight. It was like she was claiming you, the grip was somehow intimate but you wasn't paying attention to it. Instead you was focused on the whole ride.

As you two ride around your mother, Ronal, saw you. She saw Neytiri who was sitting right behind you, she smirked for herself a bit. Even tho many would say that she is crazy, she was your mother and a tsahik... she knew something that you and Neytiri, anyone except her, would even think of.

You took Neytiri to one of the farthest caves. To a special one, that no one new of, only you.

Neytiri gasped for air as you went on the surface one more time. As she was catching her breath, she looked around on the most beautiful cave she ever saw.

Back in the forest there were many beautiful caves but this one was another type of beauty. "Come on." You said as you got off your ilu and went to the surface.

Neytiri was right behind you as you said that. As you reached the sand, you sat down and let out a heavy sigh. You loved it here, it was so peaceful in here. Neytiri sat down next to you while she was looking at you... well almost staring at you.

She didn't mean to but her curiosity remained the same that she had when she was younger. She looked at your skin that was much lighter then her own, like turquoise. Your eyes ocean blue while hers were yellow. Your hair were different from hers, your top, accessories, everything.

"Why did you take me here?" She spoke after a while. She was still looking at you with her hands resting on the sand. You turned your head at her and smiled.

"Well this place always brings me into a good mood um- otherwise I don't know why." You said as you shrugged your shoulders.

To be honest you just wanted to spend some time with her, you couldn't place your finger on it.

You looked into her eye before smiling at her, and she returned the favour. She wasn't sure why she feels so safe around you, it was like she already trusts you with her life, but that was impossible, both of you thought.

"It is very peaceful in here, thank you." She said with a small smile. Neytiri didn't know what came into her but she wrapped her arms around your waist and brought you closer to her.

You quickly turned your head to look at her and she, without care in the world just look in front of her on the sea without moving a muscle or her hand from your waist.

Neytiri wasn't sure why was she feeling so safe and calm. Why did she even put her arm on your waist on the first place, but it felt so natural, so right for her, she couldn't help herself. Also you were like 10 years younger then her.

As you saw Neytiri's calm face, you relaxed and let your head fall on her shoulder. This was kind of intimate position, so it was forbidden for you two to even do... but there was still no kissing, that was good, right?

But no one was around, no one could see you, no one could hear you, it was only you and her at this moment. You could do whatever you wanted and Neytiri wanted to enjoy every second of this.

She was confused and her head was filled with running thoughts but they were somehow quiet. She was calm, she felt safe and like a cherry on top this felt natural to her.

It felt like she spend her whole life with you, like you two were meant to be. It never felt like this with Jake.. only with you.

But while she’s doing that the reader is just gazing at her lovingly and Neytiri is like 🧍🏻and teases the reader out of her own bashfulness and then the reader is like “you’re so pretty” and then they end up confessing their feelings?

You go on a hunt with Neytiri, but get injured. As she patches you up, you can’t pass up on the opportunity presented to you to flirt with her. Her shyness is cute, after all.

Neytiri was not happy.

Neytiri had invited you to go hunting with her just moments ago. Naturally you accepted, because you would leap at any opportunity to spend time with her.

When you were both up in the treetops, shrouded by greenery for concealment, you located ample prey and drew your bow and arrow to shoot it. You couldn't maintain your attention on the hexapede while aiming your arrow though. Neytiri's gaze was distracting, as she was peering at you so raptly that you began to shiver.

A terrible strain surged throughout your arm well before you released the arrow. Your arrow punctured the tree trunk behind the hexapede, alerting it to your presence, effectively scaring it away. You clutched your arm in agony, knowing that this was the result of overworking yourself on hunts.

Of course, Neytiri was both bewildered and alarmed because she had no idea you had injured your arm, nor that it had been that way for some time. She would never have brought you out hunting if she knew you were unwell. Why on Pandora did you agree to come if you were hurt?

You couldn't climb out of the tree on your own, so Neytiri rushed over to you and grabbed you in her arms to carefully position you on the back of your Ikran, enabling you two to safely return to Hometree.

Those events had culminated in you sitting peacefully amidst Hometree, having your arm tended to by Neytiri. You told her that it was alright, but she insisted on helping you.

She cautiously lifted your arm and turned it over, beginning to massage the tension out of it. She took a peculiar oily paste you'd never seen before and squeezed a handful of droplets on your forearm, kneading it into your skin to help make the process much more pleasant for you.

Neytiri's gaze did not leave your arm as she concentrated intensely on the motions of her fingertips, striving to relieve the aching in your forearm. While she was engaged with that, you began to stare at her affectionately, ignoring the nagging discomfort in your wrist.

You should have turned away sooner, but you couldn't. Neytiri halted as she felt your eyes sear into her, shyly lifting her head to meet your fixed gaze. Her cheeks immediately flushed as she noticed your attention drawn to her so warmly, but she couldn't figure out why.

Neytiri, who was now painfully shy and bashful, attempted to demonstrate confidence by poking your arm. You winced in pain, and she proceeded to mock you about your stare, a shaky grin on her lips. “Did your arm injury travel to your head?”

You laughed and shook your head, your heart swelling at how beautiful she was when she smiled. Everything about her was perfect, from the way her hair fell gracefully behind her shoulder, or the way her eyes crinkled in amusement, to the way she tossed her head back in mirth.

You couldn’t stop the next words that escaped you. “You’re so pretty.”

If Neytiri was blushing before, she was now completely flushed from her cheeks to her throat. You'd never seen her trip over her own words before; it was completely uncharacteristic of her. You thought it was adorable.

You ignored the pain in your arm as you took Neytiri’s hands in yours. “I always think you’re pretty. I like you so much my heart could burst every time I see you.”

Neytiri withdrew her hands away from yours as she rotated your arm over yet again, this time caressing the inside of your wrist. Neytiri sighed, her thoughts repeating your words. “I don’t know what I would’ve done if I wasn’t here today to help you.”

You started smiling now, feeling embarrassed about how silly you were for going out with an injury simply to impress her. You drew Neytiri in for a sweet kiss, which she gladly reciprocated, and it all felt so natural. 

Neytiri pulled away from the kiss and laughed. “You’re an awful hunter.”

before jake, there was y/n. an omatikaya who exceeded expectations, who performed their iknimaya earlier than most of the clan, who also trained to become a warrior but also studied the practice of the tsahik. they loved learning when others dreaded it. that’s why eytukan and mo’at saw them as someone worthy of taking the role of olo’eyktan or tsahik, someone who is also a great influence on their daughters sylwanin and neytiri.

growing up, neytiri would follow y/n everywhere they go. she would learn from the older na’vi on how to hunt and would ride their ikran until she herself completed her iknimaya. it was like another older sibling taking care of her until she began seeing y/n in another light.

it started off as a little crush. they looked up to y/n so much that they wanted to hang with them outside of their responsibilities. they got the chance early on but y/n began to get busy so their late-night walks became a once-in-a-blue-moon occasion for the two.

neytiri herself became busy training to become a warrior. she also became busy but that didn’t stop her from taking time off her busy schedule to see y/n. they were also students in grace’s school and y/n as one of grace’s best students, standing beside neytiri and sylwanin. this was one of the times that they get to hang during their training and made the most of it.

y/n in turn, they began liking neytiri more than a friend when during one of their ride in the night on their ikrans, the moon shone brightly and enhanced neytiri’s beauty. y/n’s face flushed light purple as their white spots glowed.

neytiri saw this and laughed in glee, her face flushed like the na’vi in front of her.

after flying, they rested on one of the floating rocks and watched the sunrise from the distance. no words were exchanged but their hands laced on each other, leaning on each other’s shoulder in comfort.

when they came back home, y/n had asked the olo’eyktan and tsahik if neytiri could be promised to them for when the time comes, they will be able to mate before eywa. seeing their hard work and efforts as a member of the omatikaya clan, they accepted.

of course, they are not to do anything beyond hand-holding, hugs, and occasional forehead and cheek kisses until they finished all their rites and initiation.

but when the school that grace’s school was attacked, not only was sylwanin taken by eywa, y/n was taken as well. they were so close to leaving the school but a stray bullet flew through their chest, hitting an artery, and had no way of reaching hometree back.

neytiri thought y/n got lost during the escape and came back to the ruined school, only to see their body a few feet away, chest unmoving as their skin was pale because of the blood loss.

just like that, her sister and future mate were taken away from her. her cries were painful to hear as she clung to y/n’s cold body. she begged eywa to give y/n back to her. she promised to become a better hunter and warrior in order to protect y/n from harm. just give them back… please…

like the na’vi’s before them, when eywa gave life, the energy must be returned. she carried y/n back to hometree and was buried alongside the na’vi’s that had lost their lives because of the sky people.

neytiri decided to keep one of the beads in y/n’s songcord, the bead that told the story of how they asked her parents to have her be promised to them until they were of age to mate and bond for life.

y/n’s life was cut short. their songcord was short and deserved to be longer but it could never add new ones anymore. neytiri thought at the moment that eywa was selfish. she was cruel for taking her first love and the first person that understood her fully. but, maybe it was eywa’s plan the whole time. she is the great mother of pandora and maybe it was really y/n’s time to go.

two years passed and neytiri met jake sully. although she didn’t want to love another because it felt wrong to love someone other than their first love, then she remembered what y/n had told them during one of their flights.

“ma ‘tiri, when i die, don’t force yourself to not find love. better yet, when love finds you.” y/n says while playing with neytiri’s fingers, eyes staring at the ground in fear of seeing her confused and hurt eyes. they sat on one of the floating rocks so their ikrans can rest.

“what makes you say that, ma seze? you’re not dying! i’m not allowing it.” neytiri grabs y/n’s face with both her hands, forcing the na’vi to look at her. “i will protect you so that we can both grow old together, okay?” neytiri leans against y/n’s forehead, y/n’s arms wrapping around her waist as they basked under the sunset’s glow.

it took a while for neytiri to even be close to jake but love grew between the two. neytiri had told the story of how she once upon a time, found love just like this. though, instead of her teaching the other, it was y/n who taught her what she knows now.

neytiri also showed the bead she had gotten from y/n’s songcord, explaining the story behind and why she kept it.

jake knew he would never replace her first love, but what he can do is help neytiri heal from the pain of losing a loved one because they aren’t that different from one another and show her that finding new love is not so bad.

all their experiences in life will help them strengthen their bond.

and so, their story began.

Okay okay, hear me out. I know a lot of you guys won't agree with me but I just have to share my opinion and after all it is my opinion.

In the first movie Neytiri doesn't want to mate with Tsu'tey and I believe if Jake never came, she would mate with a woman. But since Jake came and she HAD to teach him, she fell in love with him but otherwise she WOULDN'T!! Do you see my point? If he didn't came or she didn't have to teach him, she would mate with a girl.
