Some thoughts on the hair details in Avatar:

We all talk about Zuko's miraculous hair growth over 6ish months:

And a few people have pointed out how Aang's hair grows as well:

I've never seen anyone talk about how Sokka's hair has grown (his once-shaved sides have grown in to blend with the center):

Katara's hair is the most interesting because her braid never looks that different but when her hair is down, it definitely seems thicker:

I wonder if her hair becoming thicker/heavier is what caused it to start to fall out during battles? In fact, I would go so far to say that the reason her hair is mostly down, or in a ponytail, in Book Three, is because it's too thick to be properly braided.

Toph's Blind Bandit hairstyle remains the same throughout the show. However, I think it's a really cool detail that her Beifing "it's called being handled" look only has two strands carefully sticking out and since the rest of her hair is pulled back into the bun, it's a different, bulkier, shape than when a good portion of the strands are loose:

This is a cartoon that came out in Nickelodeon in 2005. On top of everything else this show gave us, they didn't have to go through the detail of showing hair-growth/changes. But they did.
