For those of us that are newer on the left hand path, especially those of us that come from judeo-christian abrahamic belief systems, it's important to remember that this new belief system is very different from what we're used to.
We don't worship a deity that requires blind obedience and suffering. We don't worship a deity that requires blind Faith. We do worship in a deity that requires self-reliance. We worship a deity that requires personal responsibility.
For all our lives we have been told and taught that the negative aspects of ourselves: the negative aspects of our lives can all be blamed on external forces. In reality there are just times when shit happens. There are also times when we are our own worst enemies. We create the mess. We create the bullshit.
And for the first time in our lives we are faced with the reality that it is 100% our own doing. It's not a curse, it's not the devil, it's not some outside force that is creating havoc in your life. You are doing it. And some of it is unconsciously self created because we are so used to being in a state of upheaval and chaos.
There's also no savior. No one to rescue you. No one to reach down from the heavens above and give you your heart's desire. No one gives a shit.
By the same token, when things go well. When you receive unexpected blessings. When forces move in your favor. It is also you. It is not the act of some benefic God that seeks to bless you. It is your own doing.
It is up to you. It is up to you to create the life that you want. It is up to you to accept responsibility for your failures and fix them.
The role of the deity I work with in the spirits I use in my day-to-day life has been the realization of my own personal power. The realization that I am in charge of my own destiny. The realization that I have the ability to set a course for my future that I want to have the future that I want is in my control and no one else's.
The search for wisdom and understanding and power comes with the realization of our own divinity. It is internal not external. And only a follower of this path will understand how rooted and grounded this belief system is. Rooted in reality. Rooted in nature. Rooted in universal law. It is not pie in the sky. It is not some fanciful belief, but rooted in common sense rooted in self-reliance. That is not to say that these forces do not provide strength, downloads, input, direction,.. it is not to say that there are no magical moments. There definitely are. But those moments come from our own doing. From our own working..
The good and the bad are all under your control. So today is the day to own your future to own your reality to own your destiny.
