Chris Avellone spills the beans on canceled Obsidian projects, Avowed 2 is getting a LAST-MINUTE save, and DLC for another game drops in September. Jason Schreier first broke that the studio shifted focus to a new Fallout, and Avellone adds: part of the team is still pushing for an Avowed 2 repitch, Shadowrun is on hold, and Pillars of Eternity 3 is unlikely if Avowed 2 doesn't make it. Josh Sawyer is leading the new Fallout concept. DLC announcement expected at gamescom 2026.
Chris Avellone believes Obsidian is STILL working on Avowed 2 👀 The ex-creative director claims the sequel is far enough along that recent Xbox layoffs won't kill it. George Ziets is reportedly the lead writer, and the art style might change after the original art director Matt Hansen got cut. No official word yet, just waiting
You never learn: Chris Avellone says Obsidian is making Avowed 2 🗣️ A sequel is in early development. Creative lead is George Ziets (Mask of the Betrayer), Josh Sawyer keeps his role. Carrie Patel is out, after the original's 2025 release, she moved to Netflix. Xbox Game Studios hasn't announced it yet, so take it as a rumor. The first Avowed dropped in February 2025 to positive reviews ⚡️
