Repost from @jennyalbersauthor ✨ The world doesn’t value humble. But God does. I’ve been reminded of this over and over during the past few weeks as our family has discussed the circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus. The word that’s repeatedly been used to describe them: humble. The Savior came into the world as a humble and vulnerable baby, born in a humble shelter to a humble mother of humble status and means, and placed in a humble bed. And yet this humble birth in these humble circumstances was of profound value. God values humble. Humble people. Humble work. Humble positions. Humble surroundings. Humble service. Maybe this Christmas season hasn’t looked shiny like our culture says it should. Maybe you’ve been humbled by grief and struggle. Maybe you feel like your work or your position doesn’t matter. Maybe you feel unseen because the world doesn’t seem to recognize your value. Maybe your life is messy and your hands dirty and your heart weary. Whatever this season looks like for you, remember that God values humble. Which means, no matter what you do or who you are, he values YOU. . . #motherhood #momlife #sahmlife #sahm #averagemom #faith #faithlife #christmasspirit #encouragingwords #inspirationalquotes #herviewfromhome #youmatter #youareloved #hopewriters #hopewriterlife #christianauthorsofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CX9Yp6LPr75xJYSy3TONpGyc_PkG5vEQKy71480/?utm_medium=tumblr
An exasperated mom.
My child is not a prodigy. My child does not have special mathematical abilities. He’s, if I may say so, average in studies (except in some fav subjects). As much as I wish he was good (excellent even) and make me proud by getting top scores, this isn’t really happening. I’m frustrated, annoyed, angry at times, helpless at other times. What’s wrong? I wonder. Well, to see perspective, NOTHING is wrong. With him, me or in his upbringing. It’s just his personality. He takes it easy. He gets the concepts well, can articulate it well in speech. It does not show so well when he writes. He just thinks faster than he writes. I do wish he put in more effort in bridging that one gap. My advises fall on deaf ears. Being in his pre-teens, he thinks it’s OKAY not to - clean his room, practice math everyday, revise day’s lessons, score well in tests...
My reason for writing this blogpost is for this same reason. It’s the age that makes them so (over)confident. They are exploring the world and handling the physical and emotional side of the story. To top it all, they have the Indian educational system wrought with Indian parent expectations to match up to. His levels of frustration are far more than compared to mine.
I’m an exasperated mother. I say this because, I am on the verge of giving up telling him to do all that he thinks OKAY about. I also feel compelled, as a parent, to at least guide when he is “straying” (gosh! rolling my eyes, in the Indian context...of course). Although, I see the positives in him, my point is that during his basic school years, a little discipline will get him to go a long way. In all fairness, he is a smart kid. He is aware of his surroundings, good in general knowledge, excellent in sports. Is passionate about his activities and is creative too. Maybe, just maybe, he is not made for the Indian classroom set up. He might just excel in non-traditional learning environment. But, for reasons best known to me, I cannot give him that option. So, the only way I know is to mentor him to cross this hurdle called school by embracing in all subjects and the quirks that come with it. Am I wrong? Am I telling him to just look at a workaround until a problem is gone? Am I helping him understand the advantages of the system? Is it really worth pushing your children to do well in all subjects knowing their affiliation and aversion? I’m sure at some point and not, at other! However, I do know, when we believe in their goodness as a human being, I can breathe easy that they will manage life well. When you believe in their talent and learn to ignore their aversion to blatant knowledge, you have given them wings to survive in this world - on their terms. Being average is okay too :)
🍓🍑🍓🍑I can already tell my lips are healing after using this EOS balm in #StrawberryPeach for the last few days. I used to own a huge collection of EOS balms I loved but they got old and I've had to go without for the last few months. My lips are chronically dry and if I wait too long they Crack. With EOS I don't have to worry about it anymore, I can feel the hydration returning! This would make a great gift for anyone. Plus it's super cute! #squadghouls #averagemom #notamua #lipbalm #strawberry #peach #lips 🍓🍑🍓🍑 Received complimentary for testing purposes 😊 🍓🍑🍓🍑 #eosawesome #influensterxeos #contest #complimentary @Influenster @eosproducts 🍓🍑🍓🍑 (at Ohio) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4DuEhZnSaq/?igshid=li4oogefzem7
🖤🖤🖤 It's certainly not your typical daily highlighter but it works great for fantasy looks. I could even see someone with more of a #Goth style enjoying this product. The price point seems reasonable to me, and I was able to use this on the hallows of my cheeks, my eye lids, and even on my brows. I would recommend this if black is your go to color, or if you want to do something more out of the box than you could with a typical highlighter. It's certainly going to help my skelemom costume pop this Halloween! #squadghouls #averagemom #notamua #makeup #black #highlighter #halloween #fantasy 🖤🖤🖤 🖤🖤🖤Recieved complimentary for testing purposes 😊🖤🖤🖤 🖤🖤🖤 #wetnwildxinfluenster #contest #complimentary @wetnwildbeauty @Influenster 🖤🖤🖤 (at Ohio) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4Dn3jcH4I6/?igshid=1gbt4ar5wcgup
Introduction...oh boy...
Hi guys! I am a stay at home mom of 2 girls one is school age and one isn’t even crawling yet, also of two female dogs and a Wife. I spend my time at home literally doing nothing. So I thought I’d find a place (that’s free) to put down my thoughts and grow as a person, also to get some type of human contact. Haha So let’s get this Introduction started shall we?
So the school age one is 9 and let me tell you she’s got so much spunk, she loves LPS (ever since she was 3 (thanks Ashlyn! lol )) and TY babies. but other than that, she loves the outdoors, loves to ride her bike (finally!) and loves sports her favorite sport so far is basketball and soccer. She loves anything sweet (which is a win win for her, you’ll hear why later on lol) Oh and when she can’t play outside and doesn’t want to play with her toys you can find her in her room, drawing--you guys I have a little Picasso on my hands she’s really good! She also loves Minecraft, Animal Crossing and Andi Mack! Oh and is a lover of all things living. Also is a Daddy’s girl through and through.
As for my non crawler she’s already got much of an opinion on everything. lol She’s 4 1/2 months she would rather sleep on her side or on her stomach with Dumbo Lovey by her side ( and don’t you dare move it while it’s in her arms or she wakes up) her doctors have already given the okay to start giving her cereal with little fruits mixed in so we have been trying a few and so far she loves peaches. She loves music and loves her Jumper and is definitely a daddy’s girl.
My two dogs--one’s a 6 year old Matli-poo and the other is a 16 year old Chihuahua they both sleep like all day..well until it’s like 11 at night and the baby is sleeping.
My Husband- He loves building things, he tries to find things to keep himself busy. He likes to build me things, and spoil all of his girls, He likes my cooking (yay!) and he likes potato salad. He’s a Cat guy (I’m allergic). He loves Planes. He’s a Aerospace Engineer. He loves his girls (that’s the most important one) oh and he made me his wife last year! (2017)
Me- Oh boy me...I love Sweet Tea (tea with my sugar is how to put it lol) & Jesus. I love my babies, I love video games, being creative and baking and cooking in general (especially something new) I love my dogs and anything spicy (I’m a Texas girl after all) I love my extended family. I love my Husband. and taking Selfies. I love all my friends which I can count one hand. I talk to my grandparents on the phone everyday, even if it’s only for a few minutes. I love sports and especially football. BOOMER SOONER or Gig’em Aggies are my teams.
But okay baby is starting to wake up and I need to go get the cookies out of the oven so I’ll try and get a blog up at least once to twice a week. Can’t wait to take this ride on.- you can find me on Instagram at NotYourAvoMom
