TW: Unsafe binding, body dysphoria, serious conversation about health and safety given to you by D3rlord3/Derek.
Now ya’ll I better not hear anything about ya’ll using duct tape or ace bandages, I have been there done that and it hurts like a BITCH. Don’t do that it’s literally so unsafe. You’ll break ribs, cause spinal injuries, and the tape can mess up your skin, please always be safe.
There is implied poly slimeknight x reader, but Avery is off doing skywars champion things, he’s mentioned though.
Masterlist here!

It was cold.
Well- that was obvious. The snow outside was evidence of that. A blizzard had fallen upon your village and covered everything in a thick layer of ice and sludge, causing almost everything to be put on hold. Your crops were most certainly dead, all your animals had to be put away, the village no longer bustled loudly but instead murmured silently. The worst part was how your boyfriend was stuck out in it, making sure everyone was accounted for and accommodated. He firmly refused your offer to join him, telling you exactly how uncomfortable you’d be and how your frame would wrack with shivers that would make his heart clench in worry, so you stayed behind.
Having an all-knowing demigod boyfriend was strange, but not unwelcome.
You stared out the window, fire crackling in the fireplace, arms tragically not wrapped around a big, strong knight. You worried for him despite knowing he’d be just fine. Was he hungry? Was he cold? Did he want to come home as soon as possible? A pitiful whine escaped you, deciding to do something productive before Derek returned. You put some pork chops in the smoker and started to boil a pot of broth, adding in carrots, potatoes, and a smidge of a healing potion you’d bought from a traveling merchant last spring. You winced and struggled through the tasks, the familiar tight feeling around your chest, ribs, and back making it hard to maneuver. You felt like you couldn’t get a full breath in sometimes, but it felt like the only way. The only way to look how you wanted.
You’d just filled two bowls when you heard clunking on the front porch, the house flooding with cold for just a moment as Derek let himself inside, “[Name]?”
“In the kitchen!” Derek, in all his snow-covered glory, was finally home. He sighed deeply as he sat down, your kitchen table a half mess of maps and blueprints, something you’d been doing before you stared longingly out the window for an hour. You gently placed the bowl of stew and a plate of pork chops in front of Derek, helping him pull off his gauntlets and damp cloak, “you should take a bath after you eat, warm yourself up a bit.”
“That sounds nice. I think my fingers are going to freeze off.” He chuckled, smiling lovingly from behind his helmet.
“Now we can’t have that, get some soup in you.” You sat down, trying to hide the wince of pain that graced your features, “How-how’s the village?” Derek started to eat with you, the small wings poking out on either side of his helmet relaxing as the taste settled in his mouth, “they’re all okay, everyone is inside, everyone is accounted for.”
“That’s good. I hope that means you won’t have to go back out for a bit.” Derek peeked over at you, watching how you couldn’t lift your arms above a certain point and your insistent fidgeting, a sign he’d come to recognize as pain, “mm..you want me to stay home. You sat by the window for an hour.” You cringed at how you felt warmth crawl up to your ears, lovingly rolling your eyes, “gods forbid I miss my boyfriend.”
“I missed you too.” He paused, spoon halfway to his mouth before setting it back in the bowl. He suddenly stood up, confusing you, “Derek? Where are you going?”
“Be right back.”
“Okay?” You watched him go, taking a moment to stretch out as best you could. You could feel your skin beginning to irritate, rubbed raw in some places that made breathing feel like sandpaper. You were uncomfortable physically, but an odd comfort resided in that fact. If you were uncomfortable, it was working.
Right?
Derek walked back in holding a bundle of fabric: his favorite red hoodie. It had golden stitchings in the collar, edge of the hood, the hem, and the sleeve cuffs; used on lazy days and cold nights.
You blinked as he handed it to you, realizing as you held it just what he was giving this to you for, “Derek..”
“I won’t look. Please take those off.”
“But-“
“No buts. You keep those on for much longer and you’ll have a one-way trip to the healer.” You couldn’t argue with his concerned, yet firm tone. He turned around to respect your privacy, letting you quickly pull your shirt off to reveal medical bandages wrapped much too tight around your chest. You winced as you took them off, taking a much needed inhale of air and discarding the bandages onto the table. You pulled your shirt back on and tossed the hoodie over it, effectively hiding every curve of your body.
Derek turned around when you finished, arms crossed while he stared at the pile of medical bandages, “my love..”
“I know. I know. It’s just..it was just bad today. I just wanted it to look how I wanted it to.” Shame creeped up your spine, kind of wanting to curl in on yourself and die.
“Mm. C’mere.” He opened his arms for you, letting you decide whether or not you went to him, but he already knew you would. He already knew everything. You fell into his arms with as much grace as a tumbling newborn calf, holding onto the soft underclothing he wore beneath his armor. His strong hand cradled the back of your head, pushing your face into his chest to listen to the gentle thrum of his heartbeat. It lulled your anxieties for now, always a pleasant distraction,
“Now what would Avery say if he knew?”
“Oh gods- he’d be freaking out. He’d start hiding the first aid from me.”
“That he would. He and I care about you so much, no matter what. You’re our handsome man and nothing is going to change that, especially nothing about your body.” You sighed deeply, like a sad dog, “I know..I just feel so..wrong.”
“It’s okay to feel that way, but you can’t remedy it with medical bandages, that’s very dangerous my love. I know you’re aware of that though.” You nodded pathetically, “I am. I’m sorry.” His hand gently scratched your scalp, leaning down to place a lingering kiss on your head, “please don’t be sorry. You don’t have to be. How about when all this snow clears up and Avery is back from the winter finals, we go into town and have the seamstress sew you a proper binder?”
“Really?” Derek nodded, “yes. Wearing bandages or tape could lead to back injuries, ribs cracking, irritated skin, trouble breathing; I don’t want to see you hurt.” Excitement sparked inside you, but also a feeling of love and adoration. Derek was so, so good to you,
“I love you, Derek.”
“I love you too, [Name].” He finally kissed you, pressing your mouths together through the opening his helmet had, innocent and sweet. The two of you settled back into your chairs to finish eating, Derek taking the bandages with him when he went to go take a bath.
You sighed again and pushed the bowls aside, turning back to your blueprints and maps on the table, pressing Derek’s hoodie sleeve up to your nose.
It smelt like him, that was always the best part.

That’s all for now! A little short and sweet body dysphoria comfort fic.
Remember to always stay safe, don’t use bandages/tape to bind, and if you are struggling with mental health problems always contact a professional and do not base anything off my writings. I am NOT a mental health professional, just a dork who likes to write.
Have a nice day!
