Let's be honest here. If Spencer has an identical twin, and there was a switch somewhere or if the twin had scenes we thought were Spencer, it would totally make me want to re-watch the entire series over again. That, my friends, would be epic.
Could this be a parallel and a clue? Maybe the twin/AD was trying to trigger the memory from Spencer while in the dollhouse? I fully believe AD/twin were a big part of the dollhouse.
Not every Spencer scene is Spencer...
Hear me out. My ultimate theory for the last couple of years is that Spencer has an identical twin and that it’s Avery Drake. I really do think that throughout season 7, we have been seeing the twin in multiple scenes, thinking it was Spencer. I think the twin was the one going through the photo album looking at baby pictures, I think the twin is who actually asked Toby for the goodbye kiss (despite him being with Yvonne), and I think the twin is who Hanna really saw when she was being held hostage. I think the twin is A.D.. I think when Hanna was being held hostage, the twin went to her, posing as Spencer, and when Hanna said if she knew Charlottes killer she would tell, the look on Spencer’s/twin’s face was kind of an “oh shit she really doesn’t know” look. After that she hinted to Hanna how to break out of wherever she was being held hostage because she realized Hanna really didn’t know who the killer was. And notice how after this happened, A.D. hasn't asked the girls who the killer is anymore! Anyway, I think we have been seeing actual A.D. in some scenes, but we all just thought it was Spencer. Would be a HUGE twist!
Did Spencer's twin surprise Mona in season 5?
What if Spencer’s twin was the one that creeped up on Mona in her room before she faked her death? Mona had just gotten a text right before, saying that Spencer had been arrested. So imagine her turning around and seeing “Spencer” standing in front of her, but with blonde hair/a wig and in a black hoodie! I got chills just thinking about it!! This could have been the twin finally revealing herself to Mona.
N.A.T. club theory
Since they secretly filmed around Rosewood, maybe they caught Avery (Spencer's twin) on video sneaking around. Remember a Halloween episode where the Radley car is seen pulling away? Someone was dropped off or Radley was searching for someone (The twin) so she was probably around town doing who knows what. Anyway, Alison ended up getting a hold of the video files from Ian's computer remember. Melissa knew about the twin and that's why she barged in Alison's room "that night" because she was looking for Alison and the video files. Remember she has always been trying to protect Spencer so she didn't want those videos out! Also it would explain why Cece and Melissa were talking "that night." I think Melissa and Cece both knew about the twin and were trying to figure out what to do next. Also, it would explain why only Jason is left from the NAT club...he's family! Thinking back, this would explain a ton of things. I could honestly go on and on. This would tie everything back to the very beginning and that makes me excited. What do y'all think??
Avery is Spencer's blonde twin
Let's not forget, in the books Spencer is BLONDE. I think the twin being blonde would fill in a lot of gaps or "plot holes."
Spencer's twin (Avery) pushed Toby's mom off the roof...
…and Bethany Young was blamed for it. Bethany Young was basically the scapegoat. Cece lied to the girls and said Bethany pushed Marion Cavanaugh off the roof in order to cover for her sister, Avery. This is why Bethany Young is dead, to keep her quiet. It would also explain a lot of her drawings and why she had so much hate. She was wrongfully accused and paid the price. Poor girl. I think Avery talked to Toby’s mom on occasion beforehand because remember that doctor telling Toby to tell his mom to “stay away from that blonde girl.” And I think Avery is Spencer’s blonde twin.

Are Bethany Young and Avery Drake the same person? I am wondering if Bethany Young is disfigured because of being hit with the shovel from "That Night"?
