At last the painting phase. More specifically priming phase. Oh, I forgot to mention what I have added so far. So, I was lucky enough to have a quick look on some images of the scattered terrain pieces that will be on the upcoming kickstarter from Archvillain games, and I was inspired to put few ruins to cover the corner I have left. The pediment, the marble braziers and of course the rock were also completed. So I have reached the point where I was most afraid of the beginning of this project which is nothing else than painting. The reason that scares me is that I want to try to paint a marble representation, something I have not tried in the past or better I haven't painted at a level that would be please me. To avoid delays and surprises I will first try on same test pieces to see if I can carry out the method I have in mind, more details after the test. The priming was done with a coat of black latex paint (the one we paint the walls of our houses) using an airbrush. Second pass followed with a brush mainly in the places where the air could not get (and there were many). On the third pass I paint the whole construction with pronto (yes parquet) for three reasons: 1. It covers the pores of the plaster that sucks the paint like a sponge 2. It gives a durability to the whole construction and protects the substrate of the black paint 3. It gives similar small texture in the various materials used (plaster, xps foam, putty, plastic, wood, paper). Be careful, the parquet leaves a glossy finish which will be covered by the colors that will follow. I ended the day with a quick zenithal lighting.
