It lies in smartly asking the right questions. However, my mind wanders off to all the things I should be doing, so I avoid having these conversations, which is laziness. The downside of not being good with small talk is that you miss out in meeting a fantastic person or knowing something interesting about the other person. This young man spoke with a rare passion on a topic that held my interest. I liked it, I liked him, I aimed to speak with him and get his number in the process. I listened attentively and waited for him to be done speaking, I approached him and referred to what he spoke on. It was easy to get him talking again. People are often eager to talk about what they are passionate about. This went well until my friend interrupted.
