“Discovered” Avilee Backstory
1319 AE When night fell upon the Reach a signal was given, heavy footsteps were heard on the cobblestoned streets as the clattering of metal armour could be heard. This was her chance, she only had this one chance and she knew it well. Her armour clunked heavily with every stride she made towards the Upper City. She had to reach that gate!
As she approached the gates towards Rurikton she unbuckled the strap of her helmet, quickly lifting it off her head and tossing it aside. The loud thud followed by softer thuds were filling her ears as she continued running across the cobbled roads. She hoped that would distract some of the guards just long enough for her to make it towards the stairs in the gate plaza, which seemed only further and further away as she went through the main gate into Rurikton. Unfortunately it didn't seem to do much... a feeling of increasingly overwhelming anxiety set over her and she knew she had to find a way to shake off the guards chasing her. Avilee clenched her jaw as her eyes darted over the district plaza ahead of her, as she ran down the streets of Rurikton towards the Asura Gate. Her eyes spotted a merchant wagon, but she new there was no way she'd go unnoticed, not in her Seraph armour. Within a split second she was undoing every single strap and belt holding her armour together while she awkwardly continued running through a murky alleyway adjacent to the main road leading down to the gate plaza. The sounds of clattering armour echoing down the cobbled stone and slanted houses. It didn't take long for her to find and snatch some rags from a nearby clothesline. Putting them on however was an excruciating task for the noble woman, aware as ever that she knew nothing of commoner dress styles. Nor did she care. As she left the alleyway she halted her pace to a walk and made her way to the cart, cloaked in the wrappings that she hoped made her seem like a poor merchant or mercenary of some kind. The man on the wagon didn’t seem to notice her tailing him and his cart across the plaza, past the large fountain, up towards the Asura Gate to Ebonhawke. As they made their way up Avilee looked back over her shoulder to see the Seraph guards frantically searching the square. Loud commotion was heard as they did so, her breath shaking as she exhaled. “C’mon” she whispered impatiently under her breath as they queued in front of the gate. Her eyes focused on the seemingly scruffy Asura attuning the gate and checking papers. Avilee prayed to the Gods that she could slip through unnoticed. The Seraph slowly made it's way to the gate and Avilee felt the pressure of her impatience build up fiercely in her chest. The elderly couple in front of the wagon was holding up the queue talking with the Asuran as they retuned the gate. As she heard the armoured footsteps close in, Avilee slowly started walking towards the gate, praying that the guards wouldn't stop her right there and then. Their voices quickly grew louder and as the Asura finished their task, Avilee made a dash for the gate, ignoring every shout directed to her and getting through that damn gate as fast as she could. ''Get her! Get that traitor before she escapes!'' She heard them yell as she went through. It wasn't long before her body moved from the lands of Kryta to the southern most part of Ascalon. Ebonhawke, the last fortress of the Ascalonians greeted her on the other side.
OOC - OC ask (link)
Going to answer a few for Avilee Cavalli!
2. How do you pronounce their name? Does anyone pronounce it wrong?
Ay-vii-lee. Sometimes it gets pronounced ‘wrong’ more like Ahvi-lee.
She has strong feelings about this.
6. What is THE thing(s) that inspired you to make the character? Would they like it?
When I came up for the idea of Avilee I was listening to a lot of music from Ivy Levan and Bebe Rexha at the time. At the same time a few RP friends and I were coming up with our own Noble house to RP storylines together. Before things were decided on the family itself I was heavily influenced by the songs of Bebe’s EP “I don’t wanna grow up.” Which kind of set the base theme of Avilee’s personality. At first Bebe was her face claim/inspiration before Eiza Gonzalez.
She was intended for GW2 RP only at first but soon after I have remade her in many other games so she’s kind of become a standalone OC. However, a lot of her backstory is heavily influenced by Tyria so she makes the most sense as a gw2 oc.
I wanted Avilee to be a sexy, angry woman (femme fatale was a term I was also drawn to at the time) when I first wrote her. Over time that has grown a bit deeper, by simply questioning why, but the base is still the same. I often feel like she still needs some more specifics to make her a bit more relatable and lame, instead of just being a bitch ahaha.
Avilee I think would like it, thinking of how she’s similar to famous, successful women.
8. What's the first important bit of lore you came up with for them? Did it ever change?
The first important bit of lore I came up with, after the family was established as kind of a Mafia noble family (@cavallifamily), was that she has a big scar on her face from family betrayal. The details of the betrayal have changed a few times, especially when she became a Revenant character.
12. Do you have anything in common with them?
Avilee is this badass that my younger, teenage, self would have only dreamed to be. I think that we have a lot of insecurities in common as well as the inability to put complicated feelings into words.
I love the idea of Avilee being this vain, self-centered, cold hearted b*tch who doesn't let anyone know the real her. She toys with people but never let's them see past that mask of disdain for everything that doesn't suit her. She doesn't let them see that this charade she puts up is caused by a deep wound of self-hate. But then one day she just meets this irritating person who really gets under her skin and won't give up on pestering her. They follow her around, trying to understand her and she tries to shut them out as hard as she can but it just doesn't work. She cares about this person and yet they infuriate her. Their dynamic is awful at first but they see past Avilee's coldness and fake charm and they just don't care that she acts awful because they just know.

''Coming Home.'' Avilee Cavalli Backstory
Summary: Avilee looks for her family in their family estate, but finds no one is there. Characters: Avilee Cavalli, several Cavalli family members mentioned. Notes: Character death mentioned, mild language warning.
1331 AE The road covered in gravel would crunch beneath her heeled shoes as she made her way towards the manor up in the hills of Kessex. Avilee was eager to get to her family's estate 'D'Oro Tenuta' but was fearful to be met with a hostile environment. After all she was a discovered Seperatist, banished from Kryta by the Shining Blade years ago. However that did not stop her, if her time in Elona had taught her something it was that family had become important to her so she continued to follow the path. She huffed as she got up the last of the stone steps decorated with golden swirls on the trims. ''Fuck sake these steps never fail to make me detest coming here.'' Avilee muttered to herself as she took a moment to catch her breath atop of the stairs. She lifted her head to look over towards what would have been the most beautifully decorated villa, known for it's riches. However her gaze was met with a bewildered unkempt state of a garden and what appeared to be an abanoned estate. ''What the..?'' Avilee frowned deeply as she peered over the scene and slowly started walking towards the front door, which appeared to be left open, or bashed in? She wasn't sure but one thing was for certain, something wasn't right. ''I've only been away for a few years and see what they've done to the place.'' She said to herself as she unsheathed her sword from its scabbard. She slowly pushed the door open further and it creaked loudly, as if it had been rusted in place for a while. She let out a loud sigh before stepping in hesistantly, after all she hadn't been welcome in Kryta for a while and had no way of knowing what stance her family had taken on her past endeavors.
The first thing she saw in the large foyer with a victorian goldencrested staircase leading up to the second floor was how dirty the place was. ''Surely they wouldn't have just left?'' She whispered slowly as she walked past the large mirror, now cracked and full of webs, above the hallway table. Leaves were scattered over the floor, blown in from the open door and Avilee made sure sure not to make too much noise as she walked past the staircase towards the main drawing room behind it. The vast drawing room decorated with red sofas and a glass table in the middle in front of the now empty hearth looked dusty and worn. She decided not to linger and moved on down the hallway, exploring every single room for signs of life but found no luck. Machiavelli's room was empty, so was Frederico's, Guiliana's and Stella's too and so on. This continued until she passed all the rooms on the main and first floor, even the servant quarters were empty and dusty. This was very unlike the family she knew. There was one room at the end of the hallway that she hadn't gone in to. The main study, the most important room of the house, besides the wine cellar of course.
As she entered the main study she saw a large amount of papers scattered around the floor and an empty crystal glass on the desk. She sheathed her sword and sat down in his chair and chuckled, she leaned back and put her feet on de desk before laughing to herself. ''Oh Gabriel, what have you done to the place?'' She said before spotting a letter on the desk but due to the window being open next to the desk it was rather weathered and hard to read. She moved her feet off the desk and attempted to read it, there were only a few words she could make out. ''Que- Jen-a, Cavalli Steel-thing comp-, Wh-te Mant-, Ea-K-ex Kurzi- filth. She couldn't make any sense of it but it was clear to her that her family, as usual, had been involved in something prior to the events that might have happened to cause the manor to be left in this state. She tried to open one of the drawers but it was slightly jammed, she rolled her eyes and sighed before giving it a hard enough tug to slightly move the wooden desk. The drawer gave way and opened, inside she found a letter with the Cavalli family crest on the wax. It had remained unopened and unadressed. She hesitated for a moment before ripping it open with slight force.
“Dear family,
We regrettably inform you of the passing of Lord Gabriel Cavalli. His passing was sudden but due to health complications. His funeral will be had at the Cavalli graveyard where he will be buried next to his wife and the rest of his kin.
Afterword a hearing of his will is to be had at the family estate and the succession of Federico Cavalli to head of the family.
Our condolences”
As she read the letter her golden brown eyes widened and a scowl would form on her face as a single tear streamed down it. She sat there silently in the study that once belonged to her uncle whom she'd always had in high regard before having a burst of anger take over. She threw everything of the desk and screamed before sitting down once more, wiping her dark brown hair out of her face and she'd sit there contemplating what to do next.
A few hours passed and the old grandfather clock in the hallway still chimed as another hour struck. Avilee, as if stuck in a trance, lifted her head and peered across the room with narrow puffy eyes. ''Fuck this shit.'' She said before standing up and leaving the study and walking across the hallway, stopping at the painting of Frederico in the hallway. ''What happened?'' She uttered almost breathlessly as she stood in front of his likeness with a cocky smile. She smirked and shook her head. ''I've always liked you the least, it's no surprise that the house is in this state I suppose.'' She added before continueing her way towards one of the spare bedrooms, one she'd frequently resided in in the past. ''Home sweet home.'' She let herself fall on the bed and the dust rose around her and she started coughing loudly. An annoyance came over her but was quickly followed by determination. She will find out what happened to them and she'd lap up this place. It would be costly but there was no way she could leave the place like this.
And so she left the estate on her way to earn some coin.
Avilee Cavalli
Renegade/Seperatist/Seraph Guard. She/her. Heterosexual. Single. 195cm/6'4 feet tall. Personality: Charming, Determined, Outspoken, Flirty, Ambitious, Self-centered, Greedy, Hot-headed, Unfaithful, Vain, Unforgiving.
Backstory: Avilee grew up under the reign of her father's lust for reputation, power and wealth. Once her father started noticing Avilee's interest in dark magic he drilled her to be the best. Refusing to do his bidding, she left the household but was attacked by her father and half brother, leaving a scar along the left side of her face (22). Avilee decided to turn to the other side of her family and build her own life in her own way but quickly became involved in a separatist group whilst training to become a Seraph guard. The separatists put her position to use and made her an undercover operative in the Seraph guard. She continued to work on both sides for years until her cover got blown by an anonymous source (28). She fled to Lion's Arch, hoping to built a new life in the safe haven, unfortunately the events surrounding Scarlet and her drill of destruction quickly turned everything sour. Barely escaping with her life, Avilee found new ways to use her dark magic (29). With not many safe places to go though, Avilee stayed to help rebuild the city. She became a bounty hunter and provided some after dark entertainment while trying to keep a low profile. She stayed in Lion's Arch until an invitation to her services was extended aboard an airship bound for Elona (32). After spending several months in Elona, Avilee found herself wanting to reconnect with her family back on the continent of Tyria.
Noticable traits: 1) Alluring: She seems to have something over her that just draws you to her. Is it the flirting or just that she likes to get under your skin? 2) Animosity: This hot headed lady really dispises Charr. Charr in her vicinity better get ready to fight, or they might die. Don't take it personally. 3) Scar: There's a large scar on the left side of her cheek, she tries to cover it with her sideswept hair. Maybe it's best not to bring it up. How your character might have heard of her: There might be multiple ways for you to have heard of her, but you wouldn't have found out unless you were a part of it yourself. Worked for the Seraph but was caught as an undercover Seperatist. Frequents bars and is often seen leaving with some nightly entertainment.
Face Inspiration: Bebe Rexha, Eiza Gonzalez.
