This was a brilliant show!
I just binged all 13 episodes of the series Awake (2012). Fascinating concept, really well carried out. Kept me guessing and wondering. It got super meta and surrealistic especially in the last episode, but the suspense was amazing.
That aside, though. Am I the only one who just sees Kerry Weaver every time Laura Innes is on the screen? I was having ER flashbacks galore. (And enjoying every second of it, if there was any doubt. 🥰)
Just finished Awake. Wow, this show is insane. I can't believe it was canceled. Jason Isaacs was amazing as detective Michael Britten. In the beginning I wanted to know which reality was real and which was a dream but as the story progressed it didn't matter anymore. What was important was a man's determination to keep his family alive at any cost. Hands down the most memorable quote:
So if you're telling me that the price of seeing them, feeling them, of having them in my life is my sanity that's a price I will happily pay.

I did go ahead and rewatch Awake, then, and fucking hell, I hate Jason Isaacs
I've watched this half-season wonder four goddamn times now, and that fucking scene in episode 11 (if you know, you know) still leaves me sobbing
Unfair
That said, it's still awesome and I still wish we would've got just one more half-season. Of course, then they probably would've ended that in a similar way, too, but still, I always get to the end and want more, lol.
Awake is giving me such Hannibal S1 vibes, more accurately the second part ot the season vibes. I'm constantly questioning which world Michael is living in is the real one and this gives me such anxiety. I felt the same amount of anxiety while watching Will slowly lose his mind to encephalitis and it's amazing how both shows can make the viewer experience the same emotions as the MC. Also, I'm starting to think Michael is not awake at all, that he is in coma and it's all in his head. Hopefully, his wife and kid are both alive in some third world, third reality.
What's with NBC picking up and airing the best tv series and then canceling them? Just started watching Awake from 2012 starring Jason Isaacs. Gosh, this show is brilliant. Complex, fast-paced and touching. Needless to say, Jason Isaacs is a remarkable actor. Also, the first episode is directed by David Slade so when I saw the credits my little cannibal heart skipped a beat.
