Wasn't expecting this bounty today. A family grows too many zucchini's each year and puts the extras out for others to pick up on their way home. While I was waiting for someone, I thought I would pick some blackberries to freeze and then decided to pick Oregon grape berries to create a medicinal. That's when the gift popped out of the leaves. Native black Currents. OMG. I didn't see them until getting close to the hedge of leaves, and in the darkness there was this little package. I paused to look around and there were vines of them everywhere simply hanging delicately down. I was so happy to see them. After cleaning these up and deciding what to do with them, I may go back and get deeper in the hedgerow. The blackberry vines wrapped around me and held tightly, so I am taking a pause to think about it. This is proof it's harvest season!
