You are a HUUGGE inspiration to me. I’ve been trying to draw recently but can’t even decide what kinda brush i wanna use :( advice on how you’re so comfortable with the brush you use?
SORRY FOR THE LATE ANSWER
Uhhh, I'm gonna try my best to explain but a general advise that works for me is that I usually pick them out by trying every brush at least once for a small doodle and use the one I like the most.
You don't have to use all the brushes, just some you find interesting. As well as picking one brush and getting spend some time drawing with it, you're not going to immediately like a brush from only spending a few doodles with it as a part of getting comfortable with a brush is learning how to use the brush (like how to change size, hardness, and pressure to achieve an effect for something).
As from my experience learning to use a brush has kind of the same learning curve as learning to draw. Finding out and experimenting on your chosen brush is an experience not like any, especially in a program with lots of different brushes to try out.
It also helps to understand, what kind of art style/feel do you want in your art too. As each piece/art style would need different brush.
I don't think I have a solid advise other then, use whatever feels right to you and your art. And if you ended up not liking a brush after a while, that's okay. You don't have to stick with it.
Though if you want to start somewhere, a hard round brush, a soft airbrush and one texture brush is all you really need.
these are some of the brushes I stick too.
It's also important to learn how to switch between between brushes and eraser, as well as changing brush sizes and opacity fast, setting shortcuts, find your pressure sensitively. These mostly depends on your program tho, so another advise is to learn your program too, to understand how certain brushes work.
for example, I use the default brushes in krita and I tend to paint a lot with Opacity and size brush sizes a lot, so from what I learn, in krita at least, is that I can hold shift and drag my pen on my tablet to change it's size, and I can change the opacity by pressing I or O key on my keyborad to decrease or increase it. This generally helps me get comfortable fast with my hard brushes more then a brush that change opacity based on pressure.
I hope this advise helps in some way!
