PROJECT 1 PART 1

EXPERIMENTAL SCARF

So this is the scarf I’ve been working on… I’ve been slacking off a lot the past couple days but I’m hoping to get back on track now.

The colorway used thus far is called Yellow Tulip from Expression Fiber Arts. It’s a worsted weight merino tencel blend. I chose it because somehow I bought more of it than I thought and didn’t want to waste anything of limited quantities on my first project, especially since I went rogue from the typical beginner project and am doing my own thing. Admittedly though textured peices like this are better in solid colors.

I have an idea for the next section. It’s a mix of garter stitch and linen stitch but I need to draw it out and do a test swatch first. I hope to have that part done by tomorrow.

I’m also considering doing the next section in a different color. Opinions would be appreciated on that bit.

Oh and that last picture is from an anime called Mawaru Penguindrum. It felt fitting to my current state.

So, apparently what I, and many others have been calling a skein is actually a hank o_O Something about calling it a hank just grates on my brain though. No idea why.

And skein I keep thinking in my head is pronounced “sky-n” because I took german, and then when I realize its not I start thinking “skee-n”, which I’ve heard a few people say but mostly I think they say “skay-n” … I think I will just avoid saying the word outloud.
