NOMAD -- Nothing can prepare you for running into the one person you don't ever want to run into. But this is New York City, population 8.55 million people, and despite your best efforts, its bound to happen. While birthday party hopping this past weekend, I ran into an ex who I have actively avoided over two years. As soon as he called out my name, I immediately began plotting my exit strategy. He told me that I seemed very overwhelmed to be seeing him. When I rejected his hug, and evaded his aggressive questioning he got back into the car and rolled his eyes saying, "I guess it was good seeing you." 30 minutes later commiserating about how awful that encounter was with a girlfriend, I said "it was like seeing a GHOST!". As the word came out of my mouth, the ex, the ex who I haven't seen in two years, walked by. He turned, looked at me, smiled maliciously and kept walking. OMG. Dating in the city is a nightmare - especially when all the ex's are trapped on an island with you. #awkwardlyinthecity
