Awkward Moments Day
The Day After, an unofficial holiday, may have originated to celebrate the Irish cultural holiday of St. Patrick's Day, which often involves alcohol and partying. The founders may have wanted to embrace awkward moments in life and share them with family and friends. The day encourages laughter and recognition of the importance of these moments in life. The first known use of the word "embarked" in English can be traced back to Samuel Pepys' diary in 1664.
Awkward moments are part of our lives - embrace them and use them as learning experiences.
