I watched all** the chained life povs and ranked them by which ones hold my queer little heart the most :)

Anyway, rankings under cut (because it's long) :) (ALSO SEMI-SPOILERS)

I'm so sorry, I be yappin so much but like this stuff has me physically ill. Today's yap fest is about Saps again (and also a lot of Ymi and Sidefall retrospective)(and a break down of the head hunt) I want to analyze his session 3 behavior. (major spoilers ahead)

Saps was going to kill Ymi and Lamp. He was sending them down to the trial chamber for "protection" where they'd get murdered by boogeymen Rotation and Whale Milk. Ymi was right to be suspicious of Saps (yet she still came willingly because they were allies). Sidefall was right to be suspicious of Saps too (Sidefall just assumed they were boogeymen, but honestly I think Saps is more terrifying than that).

Since I haven't said it yet, Salty and Cynikka (two of the last 4 greens) are hiding right under Ymi and Sidefall's cottage. Meeting these two on their way back up to the surface slowed Ymi and Lamp down and landed them in the confrontation against Wobb and Zam (they didn't engage, but they were there really nervous and cautious so they ended up running away). Ymi and Lamp are hiding them from everyone else, it's a secret held between only the four of them (unless Salty and Cynikka prove that others know about them in their videos when they come out).

Anyway, Saps. The yellows discussion where Saps pushed for them to murder all the greens was a discussion of all time. Very States 2.5 Flux coded. The only issue is that at this point, there were only 4 pairs of greens left (Lingulini/Gotoga, Cynikka/Salty, Ymi/Lamp, KagL/Brit). Personally, I'm really happy that Sidefall and Burney were chained together because despite being quite violent and blunt with his language, Burney is a peaceful king. If Burney hadn't spoken up, I don't think Sidefall would have spoken against Saps either. Because Sidefall after that discussion expressed his worry (to Burney) about Ymi getting attacked and not wanting Ymi to die (something he wasn't confident enough to express in front of Saps and the other yellows).

After that, Saps pulled aside Baablu and Benji (who were all for it) and Lightrocket and Kanukei (who were neutral on the matter) to discuss a plan to kill Ymi and Lamp away from Sidefall and Burney while they were busy chatting with Zapy and Pilli (Zapy took part in making fun of the idea of killing all the greens). Saps even stole Sidefall's joke idea to send Ymi to the trial chamber and let her keel over on her own.

When being escorted to the trial chambers, Ymi cited that she was following Saps and Ender because she trusted in the Untitled Alliance. She trusted in her teammates. Who lied to her face about how they died in the trial chambers in the same conversation.

If things had lined up differently, Ymi and Lamp would be dead and Cynikka and Salty would be compromised.

Another thing is who is now included in the Untitled Alliance. Saps, at the end of his episode, speaks with Rotation, Whale Milk, and Ender and says that they're the only members of Untitled now. This doesn't include Ymi (who brought Whale Milk into Untitled), this doesn't include Sidefall, this doesn't include Lightrocket, and this sure as hell doesn't include Flux. Flux told Lightrocket that he was part of Untitled session two and wanted to give him access to their sugarcane. Guess who no longer has access to their sugarcane (both Flux and Lightrocket). And guess who almost died (not really) to the trap that Saps set in his own base (Lightrocket). And there's no way that Saps's ideal Untitled Alliance members would accept a member that Flux inducted into the group as one of them (sorry Lightrocket).

And don't get me started on the role Saps played in chasing down Wobb and PrinceZam. Of the pairs that chased down Zam and Wobb, the fighters were all: Lingulini/Gotoga (self defense), KagL/Brit (self defense/red), Zapy/Pilli (self defense), Flux/Magic (who were there to support their teammates (which includes Saps AND Ymi and also tangentially KagL and Brit because they are Flux charity cases)), and Saps/Ender (who had no reason to be chasing them down other than to "protect" the greens they were leading to their deaths). I'm not including Burney and Sidefall who separated themselves during the chase (much like Ymi and Lamp did). Note: Self-defense is like a special thing yellows can do after the fact of dying. They can go back and attack whoever killed them in the first place, but they do run the risk of dying themselves (which is what happened to Brit and KagL). This had to be laid out and explained in session 2 because of how bloodthirsty Zam was being towards boogeys who hadn't even killed him.

Of all the people in that chase, Saps and Ender were the ones who had the least reason to chase down Zam and Wobb (other than self-preservation because after all the greens are dead (a front that Saps himself is assisting in), Zam would start attacking yellows she doesn't like).

It sucks even more because Kanukei, Lightrocket, Baablu, and Benji were all left out of the plan to kill Zam and Wobb. Mostly because of how improvised the chase was in the moment, but still, Saps was actively hunting Zam and Wobb. You could tell that the moment those two came onto his radar, Saps's objective changed from get Ymi and Lamp to the trial chamber for boogey kill to we need to get rid of the problem children. That's another thing that saved Ymi and Lamp from certain death, the sacrifice of Wobb and Zam. Saps took advantage of the ire of all the yellows who had died at the hands of those two to get rid of two players who could actively threaten his security and placement in the game.

Saps is such a compelling character I hate him so so much. He does so much against his own team and yet he still keeps getting away with it. I hate how he plays the game but damn is he good at it.

This week’s Chained Life episodes ranked by how happy they make me as a queer person (very relevant)

Disclaimer: spoilers and just because something is ranked low doesn’t speak to the video’s quality. All of them are really good, even the lowest ranked one (spoiler it’s Saps soz but he does not get the first thing about flower trading)

If you’re struggling to find povs here’s my playlist, I obsessively check channels daily for their uploads. (trust me when I say that navigating channels through descriptions has gotten exponentially worse this week)

Hc that Chained Life is like a hunger games type of situation. They were set loose in a little dome, bound to kill each other until only one person remains. They were all reduced to tribalism to survive, clinging to partners and other people for their own survival and personal gain.

The chain cuffs are fastened to their wrists, and every day at dawn they drag you closer to your next partner until you're a reasonable 5ft away from one another. Every night the chain disappears, letting them wander and rest in the places they find the safest. Everyone is given three chances to live. And if your partner dies, your cuff kills you too. Imagine spending a day with your partner, finding a safe place to rest with them for the night, lay down and get some sleep. But then the next morning you're forcefully dragged away from them by a chain connected to someone else.

The cuff holds them to the rules. Greens can't attack first, yellows can only attack those who have killed or attacked them (but creating traps are free game). Reds are allowed to kill indiscriminately.

If you can't adapt you'll die. Being red is scary. One wrong move, and you're dead. You can see the toll it takes in the reds through Panda's hysteric laughter and Legacy's anger and depression. You can see it in Zam, as she complains about the chain and being unable to take it off. She's unable to adapt to everything. It drives her up the wall, it makes her aggressive, it leads her to lash out. It's why she goes so quickly, she couldn't stand it and she wanted out. The only way out was to win, was to kill. Jaw can't handle the pressure of being red, he's so close to losing. His life, his friend, everything. And he's surrounded by people who have everything better than him. His anger and anxieties express themselves destructively. Setting fires knowing the rules stated that Greens could only fight back if they were attacked first, they couldn't kill him if he never engaged. He forgot about the Boogeyman.

The Boogeyman is the powers that be's way of creating chaos, discord. Two pairs, held at gunpoint by their chains to kill another pair. They're reminded of their task by poison coursing through their veins, slowly taking action. The only way to receive the antidote is to kill, or choke and die to the poison until you're red.

Everyone has different ways of dealing with the stress. Destruction quickly becomes the easiest way of dealing with the looming threats atop your heads. Whispers in the middle of the night, spoken under the stars, cradled in the branches of an oak tree (little whispered promises of a kingdom and the destructive power needed to create that kingdom). Wardens being risen out of the sheer need to make others share the same fate. Making jokes that later turn into murder plots against your better judgement. Cheating, barking(?), backstabbing, drinking, stealing. Killing.

And everyone has their own ways of collapsing under the stress. Kanukei, who builds a safe space for players to rest day one and slowly becomes more and more disillusioned with the cage that holds them in as Chain Haven crumbles before him. The hopeless whispers of Burney and Meagon who know they are nothing more than canon fodder for the people who hold more power than their vagrant existences. Talks of extermination, singling out the weak and defenseless because they hold something you've already lost. Hours in the mines, clinging to a chain and a pickaxe with nowhere else to go but an open warzone. An axe, gripped tightly in a shaking grip with nothing left to live for. A quiet grave, staring at it's greatest achievement. A burning flower, and a friendship long gone.

Jaw and Wobb yap because I'll kill a man. (minor spoilers unless you really really want to watch Jaw's pov unspoiled then major spoilers (go watch it anyway these people make me ill))

Jaw made it worse. I hate him I hate him so much. Jaw if you're reading this 👁👁 screw you how dare you do this I am NOT okay. (also you only have 29 out of the 36 possible members of chained life in your description look at that and not me please)

Not only did Jaw burn the flower. BUT THIS??

First he burns the flower, then he starts blaming Wobb for his own misfortune, and then he doesn't pick up the gold?? I'm gonna have a fucking Joker moment this is not okay. "I feel bad" isn't going to FIX the complete anguish and torment I feel towards these two, it's only going to make it WORSE.

I didn't notice that Jaw didn't pick up the gold in Wobb's pov. Jaw's pov only makes them more doomed.

Fine. I'm talking about the freakin graves. But first I want to talk context.

First session, Wobb and Jaw did not get along (but in a goofy "we're friends but we HATE each other graaaa" kinda way). But they sorta kinda united to build something cool together (that ended up being the skull). Jaw had a whole vision for it and it ended up looking like shit (endearing). They acknowledged it didn't look good but were still happy with it anyway.

Second session, Wobb wanted to build a cool yellow life club with Thunder (Jaw's replacement). The initial idea was a church and ended up being a lemonade stand after they realized they weren't competent enough to build a church.

Third session, Wobb admitted at least TWICE that he just wanted to be chained to Jaw again and build. But he gave up those plans the moment he was chained to Zam. He literally threw away his goals for Chained Life to help Zam with hers (killing people). Talk about twisting the gosh darn knife.

Anyways, grave moment. Right after Jaw and Micro died, Wobb turned to Zam and asked if they could build a grave for Jaw. Where did they build the grave? Right across from the skull (so he could see it from beyond the grave), the thing they built first session together. What does he also do? He placed a chest at the grave and places a piece of gold in the center.

And what does Jaw include in his video??? Wobb building his freaking grave. I cannot get over the amount of torment one video has caused me. points aggressively at screen. Look, look, that was the thing Wobb wanted to do with Jaw!!!! He's doing the thing with Jaw!!!!!!!!!

Mfw things come full circle in the worst way possible. Me when two friends have an enemies to enemies arc but neither of them want to be enemies. There's one more thing in Jaw's video that made me violently ill but like go watch it yourself I'm not here to collect the angst for everyone else.

I JUST WANTED TO REVEL IN FLOWER DUO. I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE CYNIKKA'S VIDEO I WAS LIKE "SURELY JAW'S VIDEO COULDN'T BE WORSE THAN WOBB'S" (and it's not, but it still makes me ill and caused an insurmountable amount of mental damage)
